We're talking about an eejit with a bag on his head. Not Martin Luther King.

Why does the bag bother people so much.. I've never given it much thought, and then heard his reasons for it, kinda makes sense.

Always reminded me of John Lennon's whole Bagism thing, which I'm game for. Focus on the words and not the person.

In a way it's a little bit like Sal Butamol on boards.ie

I like this quote from them to be fair.

"2014 is the year of getting offended to give the illusion of having an interesting opinion."

    and this one:

"I've a feeling that people get fake offended on the internet nowadays just so someone will like or favourite the status or tweet."

Blindboy is fair game when his spiel is literally the word for word playbook of a right on SJW.

Not an original word out of him that hasn't been directly lifted from some purple haired outrage warrior from the US.

So the words aren't generic lifted off Reddit and deployed laughably to anyone you don't like on the internet...

Get over your being triggered by the word feminism for a moment and tell me EXACTLY what is wrong with the following: "If a man is suffering depression or anxiety or low self esteem because he has a unwarranted skewed view of the man's role in relationships.......... then it is a useful move with him to make to educate him on equality between the sexes and their roles within relationships".

If you teach that young man about equality, he can then tell it to the girlfriend that is making him unhappy because he doesn't earn enough to buy her a big house and nice things. Then, when he has explained gender equality to her, she will stop pressuring him to earn more as she will no longer attach any sexual preference to higher earning men.

    Is that how it works?

Does not appear to be similar to anything I said, no. Because you have changed what I was saying (about society expectations, societal dynamics, or narratives making him unhappy) to something else (about a specific individual making him unhappy).

In the contrived scenario you present above, I would not be reaching for anything to do with feminism at all so much as I would be telling such a person that if their partner (see how I am not gendering this, as I would give the same advice to either gender in such contexts) is making them unhappy and/or is judging them or treating them in terms of what they can give them or go and get for them........ then they are probably in the relationship for the wrong reasons and are ultimately going to end up unhappy even if they get a big house next year.

But that would just be my personal advice to such a person. YMMV.

You ve misunderstood the point Johnny you re talking about a specific man and a specific woman in an immature and dysfunctional relationship, the statement was referring to any man who is sad and depressed as a result of believing he must live up to some sort of role as provider or breadwinner in order to be acceptable or lovable. Im with Nozz there steer clear of any woman who expects that the same way id advice any woman to steer clear of a man who believes women should 'know their place'.

being pro feminist is almost a pre requisite to making friends in the right places in media circles these days , like the various irish journalists queing up to put the boot into jordan peterson a few weeks ago after the dublin gig , blindboy was signalling that hes a loyal and reliable liberal , that he is not a heretic

in that sense , blindboy is just another PC media establishment hack posing as a rebel

My Jaysus but didn't that comment rattle some of ye. You are so blinded by the audacity of him having an opinion that includes the 'F' word that he is written off as a sham, dangerous, ill informed etc etc etc. I'm sure he does have ambition and why shouldn't he?

He produces a roughly hour long podcast every week, entirely funded by his fanbase, where he can say whatever TF he wants. You'd swear he was forcing you to listen and agree with him.

Oh the paranoia and snow flakery is palpable... they re all out to get ye guys batton down the hatches ... an independent artist is now a 'PC media establishment hack' un ****ing believable. Ye need to understand what Jordan Peterson is actually saying about mental health and then ye d actually be able to act on it rather than succumbing to rigid black and white beliefs.

I'm not a pleb, sorry you feel that way about yourself. The distain you have for opinions that differ from you and your assumption that anyone giving an opinion that differs from you is lecturing well that s stuff you might need to explore on an individual basis without assuming it's being done to you. I don t feel lectured at by anyone even those I dont agree with. You ve been pontificating on here and I don t feel your lecturing me. Do you feel you re lecturing me? When does expressing an opinion turn into lecturing? How does that work? Blindboy s work is almost entirely online and through unaffiliated social media , same as yourself.... its just that he has more followers than you due to the success he has had as an artist, does that turn his opinions into lectures? Again how does this **** work?

No . Any chance you could tackle the questions I put to you...around the distinction between expressing an opinion and lecturing?

:D would that I were Sherlock, would that I were, anything on how we make the distinction on whether someone is expressing an opinion or lecturing?

I wish there was a twitter type word limit on boards.

Many posters insist on writing walls of text to try and appear somewhat intelligent.

I don't know if those getting worked up over the words of Blindboy have brain injuries, but I'd have to wonder about the psychological state of those ranting on it.

Opinions are like assholes. Lecturing is usually associated with those given a platform and an audience. I'd give him a pass if it was a once off but no, Blindboy very much takes every opportunity to shove his right on moralising down our throats.

Are you seriously going to carry on with that BS then try to take the moral high ground?

Every response from you has been facetious at best.

    Back on form.

It’s like talking to a teenage American kid. What Irish person uses “mad” to mean angry.
