    Hi all
So I’m running a new feed and return to a radiator and the floor is concrete. It’s first floor above a garage. I have cut out a trench and I now want to cover over the pipes. Obviously I will check for leaks etc first, but just wondering what’s the best material to use? The pipes will be getting hot as they are feeding/returning a rad, so if I use sand and cement will this cause it to crack over time?
There will be 20m ins boards and tiles going on top of this but I’d still prefer to be putting a material in that isn’t going to crack, due to the heating of the pipes.
    Any advice welcomed. Thanks

Insulated foam that goes around the pipe and then cover in a cement screed

Thanks. By screed do you mean a mix of 4 to 1 sand to cement? Nice and dry? Also I have the grey insulated foam that slips over the pipe, is that the stuff?

Thata the foam. Yeah just a 4:1 mix will be fine.

Dont forget to clean out the trench & wet the concrete floor first to stop the screed drying out or it wont bind to the floor. Dont have the screed too dry. It needs to be damp enough that when you hold a handfull it slightly dampens your hand

Also if you haven’t filled in the trench yet, allow at least 65mm cover from the pipe Lagan to top of sand and cement.
