And just skimming that article..all of that could be attributed to economic developments..to simplify it and bring it down to gender sh1te is ideological..you could attribute it to feminism and women taking their jobs too..

Exactly what I was thinking. What the article shows is that the destruction of manufacturing jobs, coupled with the drive by corporations to get women out of the house has affected the self worth of lots of men. Add to that other problems like alcoholism etc and it's not surprising that there is a crisis among men. My guess is that the last thing these men need is the man-hating form that feminism has taken in recent years. The whole article is typical of an academic living in a bubble, completely unfamiliar of the situation on the ground.

And what exactly did you type into Google to get that?..

Are you seriously asking me that question...what does anybody type into google to find what they are looking for? They type what they are looking for!!! Thats how it works.

In this case I think I typed gender roles and male suicides, and scrolled through the hits till I found one by the APA as I figured that s the most trust worthy and would be obliged to back findings with research and empirical evidence.

Dick the APA stands for the American Psychological Association , while I appreciate that you re completely familiar with the situation on the ground but the APA are not living in a bubble and tend to get their research by observing the data from those who are involved with the situation on the ground :)

Chance reading it instead of skimming maybe. Nothing or nobody has simplified it all down 'gender ****e' 'and feminism and women taking their jobs' is a massive part of the problem for men who believe that the man should be the only breadwinner etc etc oh we re back to what Blindboy said again. :)

maybe, but they are coming to the wrong conclusions, and are focusing on the wrong things

    That s ****ing hillarious man

Maybe we need to inform Y. Joel Wong, PhD, professor of counseling psychology at Indiana University Bloomington and his team of research psychologists that a guy named Dickswivvellerreturns on Ireland's boards.ie has come to the conclusion that they re getting it all wrong.

Here is the actual research paper for anyone who s interested in this topic. Which means everyone on here I assume.

Ye, inform him. He's starting from the point that traditional male roles are bad. He's wrong.

    No, he's Wong.

It always amazes me the cult that surrounds these academics. As I said to Nozz the other day, the APA not too long ago said that homosexuality was a mental illness. They were wrong; but those who treat them as secular gods would have sneered at me then for suggesting they might be.

Always find it hilarious the way the Rubberbandits cultists trot out that Blindboy has an MA in Psychology, fawning over him like he is Albert Einstein.

Any dip**** can get an MA these days, they are dumbed down so much.

You can see it in the posts above, the way academic papers are quoted blindly as a way to try and reinforce the argument. Blind reverence for academia.

Well, academia is absolutely infested with crackpots and doolally liberal ideology. Getting a paper out there is easy in an echo chamber, especially so in the social sciences, where the right narrative is all that matters.

He doesn’t have an MA in psychology, to the best of my knowledge. It’s in sociology.

Again, why. Why does it make his opinion any less valid?

I seem the remember Dannyrivwr saying he was a mate of Blindboy’s very early in the thread.

I agree eduction has been dumbed down and it is easier to get degrees/MA s nowadays. But that has **** all to do with the research paper I linked to you. If you take the time to read the thing you can assess it for sample size and rigour. All this blindboy cultist stuff trotting out that he s got an MA etc is nonsense you ve made up. I have t seen one mention of his qualifications on here till you brought it up.

Lord, Even worse. I had to do some sociology modules as part of my degree and I can confirm that the field of sociology is full of crackpot liberals. Just read some of the literature that these people churn out.

Well, like, to be honest, I'd be even less inclined to be arguing with one of his mates than the kind of drooling simpleton that finds the rubber bandits hilarious..

Look, I'm sure he's alright and all..

I’m aware that you believe anyone who disagrees with you is a “crackpot liberal”.

But could you cite some examples of this literature?

I'd defend anyone if I thought they were being misrepresented, whether in real life or online. And if my mates were being similarly disingenuous Id call them out on it.

t has been established that BB has some expertise in this area, if not to professional standard. He studied psychology in college, has received treatment for a mental health issue, and is certainly read up on the subject to a higher degree than most, imo.

he has a degree in Psychology (and psychotherapy) from UL, so I doubt he would be sitting around doing nothing.

The bag is there for a specific reason - it's easier for young men to listen to valuable mental health advice when there is a distraction or a depersonalisation of the person giving the advice. This is something taught in Psychology and Psychotherapy courses.

That s people just bringing to other s attention that he actually has been to college because some not so bright people are under the impression that he wasn t playing a character in their earlier work. You seem to be the only one that s hung up on the fact. So what he has an MA big deal get over it man>
