Is the moderator of this legal discussion forum a solicitor because I have seen a lot of interesting discussion either shut down by the moderator or advised to see a solicitor and don’t tolerate putting down a solicitor

I believe the moderator is a moderator who administers the forum rules as per charter....

On every forum at the bottom of the page there is a list of moderators.

Some people post looking for real life legal advice and need to be directed to a solicitor to get real life advice from someone who can extract the full details and give proper advice specific to the details supplied.

Posters here can offer opinions but who is to say which opinion is the correct choice for the poster.

    Read the charter.

Legal advice is banned. Thats why most are shut down. People looking for legal advice on the internet off strangers.

People need to be protected from themselves

You are not going to get a simple yes or no, as, firstly, as has been pointed out, there is more than one moderator, and secondly no moderator is appointed on the basis of their job - or age or sex or any other descriptor. One, or some of them may be, but unless one of them wishes to volunteer the information there is no way of knowing.

As a member no problem as a moderator with a lot of influence over the forum I would consider that a conflict of interest
What has age and sex got to do with the question other that to deviate from the question
are any of the moderators of this legal discussion forum  solicitors yes or no

Suppose some are and some aren't. Unless you know which are which, how is this information any use to you?

In fact, even if you knew which mods were legally qualified and which weren't, how would this information be of use to you?

If you want simple legal advice and information for free then you should find your nearest CIC and find out if they have a FLAC night. If they don’t then they’ll refer you to a center that does.
This forum is not for people looking for specific legal advice so it’s of no benefit to you to know if a mod is a solicitor or a cobbler. Your still not going to get legal advice.

Please tell how it would be a conflict of interest if a mod for a legal DISCUSSION forum was a solicitor?

No legal advice is given and as such all threads like that are shut down, this leaves only threads for open discussion of laws and practices, most of which are articles of current or past court rulings or made up scenarios for people to give their opinion on how they think it would play out or be influnenced by a praticular law.

I suspect that any solicitor worth their salt is far too busy to be moderating on an online forum.

On the other hand, there are quite a few young barristers out there with spare time on their hands.

This is a discussion forum people should be free to post their experiences and options within reason just the same as any other forum.Dealing with solicitors is midfield you won’t get unbiased advise about a solicitor or solicitor profession from a solicitor and I defiantly think the moderator should not be a solicitor we are deviating so this should be a post so I will start a new post

Hi there is in theory a complaints structure for reporting a solicitor but anybody who has actually used it would agree it is only a box ticking exercise self-regulation is no regulation

The government spent the full last term bringing in a new legal regulator authority they actually done the launch and  past the final bill on this in 2015 and it is still not up and running self-regulation is no regulation

The simple answer is "none of your business." It's a discussion forum, not a solicitor's office.

sorry I can’t deviate I have already got a warning from the moderator so my question remain unanswered

but op stated they believe it would be a conflict of interest is a mod was a solicitor. I think its fair if we find out how or why the believe this

Would there be any demand in the forum for a new sticky thread called "Rate Your Moderator".

    Simple answer.

It is absolutely none of your business and has no impact on their ability to moderate a form. The form rules are there for all to see.

Sure even if all the mods said yes or no how would you know if they were telling the truth.

I mod 2 forums with about 15 other mods total and I couldn't tell you anything about them. Not even are they men or women.

The premise of the OP is that the legal profession is one big scam that solicitors, barristers and judges keep going to make loads of money under the pretense of the law. And that anyone who dares question this is automatically shouted down by solicitors using confusing technical jargon to protect their own interests. You see this same conspiracy stuff appear on AH all the time.

Ironically if there's one profession that enjoys undermining and suing eachother, it's legal professionals. It's practically a game for them. Like a debating society or something.

Why should Anonymous posters be allowed to put down a solicitor.

How do we know that you are not a solicitor in a competing practice.

Shut down because they are either asking for legal advice or the thread isnt having a legal discussion.

Would you like to point out any threads you are referring too?
