    Hey all,

My sister is sick right now and asked me to recommend some US Police/Detective TV shows she can watch. She's in her 40's and these are the kinds of TV shows she likes....

    Law & Order SVU
    Chicago Fire
    Blue Bloods
    Chicago PD
    Ray Donovan
    Chicago Med

Can anyone recommend TV shows for her in the same style of genre please? She is not interested in documentaries in all.

    Cheers in advance :D

Some of the lighter stuff I would like and might suit in this kind of situation would be Castle, the Mentalist, New Tricks, Elementary.
Haven't seen enough of it but Bones could fall into a similar category.

    Gotta see 'Taggart'.

Not sure if it's exactly what you're after but Happy Valley (both series) was fantastic.

Bosch is a great show and a bit different as its a rolling plot over each series

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

    +1 for Bosch.
Really good. Great story arc interwoven thru the seasons.
One of the best police dramas I’ve seen in recent years

Longmire is different from the average police series but absolutely worth watching, it's a classic imo.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Major Crimes is a must watch so, it's pretty similar to SVU but with enough style of it's own too.

A nod for Spiral (french) aka Engrenages. Also "The Bridge" aka Bron and "Forbrydelsen" aka the Killing (Swedish/Danish) .

    All highly recommended.

Lightweight/procedural - NCIS and probably anything from CBS's stable.

Cable/serious - The Sheild, Homicide: Life on the Street.

Happy Valley's more of a human drama than frontline policing, but still excellent. Couple of options on the subtitled side, as discussed earlier.
