Degiro safe for large holding over 20,000?

I was thinking of transferring 2 positions from one broker to Degiro, as the holding fee per year has increased and is now quite large, and considering these two positions just sit there and I don't require stockbroker advice. I assume Degiro is the cheapest for holding stock on account (possibly free) and I want to make sure the holding will be safe, as on the website it only mentions that 20k is safe as per Dutch regulation. My two positions would be alot more than 20k.

Is the €20K relating to cash + shares/bonds or just the cash position ?

It's over 20k, and it's all in positions ie shares in two companies.

I think you're in more danger putting that much cash into two companies rather than diversifying. I use index ETFs to spread the risk (and I have a little under €55k in Degiro at present).

If Degiro ever went bust, its more than your money you want to worry about.

It has already been looked into on this site in detail. Don't think the 20K guarantee means much itself.

What ETFs can you buy that are good options on degiro and what are the tax implications compared to single shares?

I’m sort of in the same position. I want to buy Foreign and Colonial Trust and hold long term. You used to be able to do this with share without an intermediary fee every year but I cannot figure out a way now.
