Lately I’ve been noticing people around me are mostly paying card. My OH works in retail and she can confirm, the vast majority are tapping card and phone.

I’m 27 y/o male myself and mostly use card. I very rarely use cash. It almost seems like a foreign object when I handle it.

    What about you?

Card for lining it, cash for snorting it.

    I'm indiscriminate to my currency.

Does anyone feel awkward using a card for a 2 euro transaction ?

Card all the way. Also have Apple Pay and it’s a godsend. No need to be bringing my wallet every day with me.

I use card/android pay 90% of the time, hate dealing with cash.

Unfortunately Germany is still in the dark ages when it comes to modern banking, a lot of places still only accept cash. But you quickly get to know the places to avoid because of this.

Excellent point - I had no cash a day before payday but I had my contactless Perm TSB card with 3 quid on.

Got me the train commute tea and free choccy!!!

Cash most of the time, I don’t like looking at my bank account and transactions taking a few days to process a payment

Nope, but my girlfriend does. Last weekend I went to pay €1.20 for an ice-cream with my card and she stepped in to pay with cash  Free ice-cream for me :D :pac:

Get a better bank :pac: I get a push notification and the money is out of my account the second I make a transaction.

Cash. I keep enough in the bank to cover bills, and play with the rest of it.

Mostly card, I never have time to go to ATMs and always forget to get cash back.

I hardly ever have cash on me, I'll pay by card as much as I can. Sometimes it's a pain though when I end up somewhere that doesn't take cash. My mother calls me the queen because I never have cash on me, annoys the hell out of me, I guess she's a different generation.

I use my Revolut card for almost everything now.

Also haven't had change in my pocket at all this week. Tony McGregor would be proud.

Bought milk for 95c and paid with card this morning.

I don't carry much cash but I like having around €30-40 in my wallet but that could last weeks.

    Mostly card at this stage.

I'll make a point of getting cash if I'm going to the pub or meeting someone for dinner, because trying to use card in those instances is annoying.

But outside of that I wouldn't generally have cash on me, unless it was leftover from an aforementioned night out.

Hate cash - Mainly use card , but last Sunday I withdrew €40 and lost €20 from my back pocket . Plus I avoid shops that have a minimum spend on a card and shops/takeaways that take cash only

Cash. Since I found out that the bank charges for using the card is stupid. There should be one charge for having the card , not every time you use it!

I tend to use card for shopping or diesel for the car but always use cash in the pub, buying lunch everyday, bookies etc which means I probably use cash more often.

I would always have a decent amount of cash on me, hate not having it.

I unfortunately mostly use card, but that's just because it's convenient.
I fear though that if we all start doing it cashless society will become reality and that twill screw us all properly.

So fair play to anyone using cash mostly. There's still a hope.

You always feel it more if you pay in cash!

Say you buy something for 800e, you'll know all about it handing over 800e in cash....but tapping a phone, its no big deal...just like online buying.

The only reason for the poll to be public is so OP can figure out who carries cash around...

Card/Google Pay, if a shop has one of the "minimum spend" limits I leave the items on the counter and leave for another non-rip-off place, ****.

Change bank or get a Revolut card.
