The players had massive time for him, was a great presence both on the line and in the dressing room. Particularly on the big days his experience was invaluable. Id be more inclined to believe their take on it rather than your view from the TV screen

Duff man would also have a great presence on the line and in the dressing room but it doesn’t mean he brings any tangible benefit. A lot of the players need a kick up the backside and Dan is not the man to give it.

Dan has 3 all stars and a hoty and us still hurling at a high level. You're suggesting he's some uber fan who gets to wear a bib and run up and down the sidelines. You're simply way off the mark.

Just because you excelled at a sport doesn't mean you can go on and be the same influence in a coaching role or whatever it may be , and there are plenty of examples around to back that up

No it doesn't. But some people here seem to be judging his ability as a coach / selector on the fact that they think wearing the backwards cap makes him look stupid. Judging by what we're hearing from the players they thought he was good. And Derek thought he was good enough to keep around too. So I'd trust those indicators more than some lads on boards who don't fancy him as a selector.

    Spot on.

No one here has a single clue about what Dan actually brings to the table and are only judging him based on his sideline activity

I must confess, unfair though it was, I smiled at the Duff Man comparison.

Irish independent reporting that Paul Flynn and Fergal hartley are expected to be involved with Pat Ryan as manager

I’d question the merits of having 2 selectors from the same club if true.

They are both excellent candidates for those positions, thats all that matters. This small minded east west, club rivalry sh1te will never get us anywhere

Wearing the hat backwards and using your hand to shield the sun is a bit stupid in fairness.

Anyhow I like dan and no doubt he brought a lot but its time to move on. Five years one league title, not good enough for the crop of players that we have.

    Bring on change I say.

I also lolled at duff man!

Waterford need to go back to the drawing board again. The capacity is much too small. 16,000 is like something Leitrim would build. Forget about Walsh Park and find somewhere else to build a 25,000. The only concerts in Walsh Park with that capacity would be an 'intimate' night with Sharon Shannon or Christy Moore.

You need to.improve feel. When would we fill a 25,000 stadium? Cork and Limerick (great support base) brought 24,000 to the pairc.

Most of the capacity of a concert would be based on the pitch...

Ok well ironically you’re the one who actually brought it up, so be careful that you’re not part of the problem yourself.

I merely expressed an opinion I don’t care where the club is based I just feel it’s not ideal to have 2 selectors from the same club on a county management team.

Interesting but not a fan of the rock

Its only less than 12 months ago since himself and fan were at it on the line in Croke Park

Id like Paul Flynn to be involved in some way

We need to get over this new stadium ides. Its done and dusted. Walsh Park is the only option.

Imagine a county final with a 2k attendance in a 25k stadium. Cracking atmosphere.

J O’C and PQ as selectors. The right men at the right time.
Lots of work going on behind the scenes before a county board meeting is called for ratification of Pat Ryan.
