Will deleting the account entirely remove all the notifications received thru chrome etc? Have been trying to do this for ages (just to cut down on screen time mire than the data security aspect ) but have been receiving tons of notifications through chrome. Very annoying..
Or are they just trying to get you to log back in ? Am set for permanent deletion now in 2 weeks..

I'm a lot more concerned with my credit card details being compromised online than any info on my social media accounts. I only use facebook and Instagram to post photos. So many websites monitor your browsing habits anyway.

You're credit card info is encrypted and much safer than FB data that's shared with God knows who.

I'd be far more worried about using cards in shops.

Facebook made a huge mistake that's why I decided to delete my account. I read on https://datapo.com/en/ that they are trying to fix the situation but as for me they have already lost my trust. So I switch to the Telegram.

It's been around 4 months ago now and I do not regret deleting my Facebook account one bit and best of all I feel a lot more freedom and I'm loving it.

After so long away I realise how much I actually hated facebook but feared deletion like I'd miss something but I'm missing nothing, I enjoy the important things in life like spending time with my 2.5 year and 4 year old Sons and that's all that matters in life to me and not Facebook , even going for a spin on the bike or reading a Ham Radio or electronics magazine while having a Poo is better than having my face stuck in facebook !

So much so that you need to tell everyone
"I'm not thinking about smoking, not even thinking about it!"

Some posters on here giving out about Facebook....

...and they have amassed 25,000+ posts on boards in less than a decade.

Do I not see the irony here?

This is really one of those times where you have to ask 'Do you want a medal or wha'?'

A lengthy process but make sure to delete and not deactivate FB do not make this easy and deactivate is the more logical thing to click as deactivate isn't easy find but follow this guide to successfully delete you account.

    https://deletefacebook.com/guide/

remember if you log back in again it cancels the account deletion the cunning b1stards !

So at last, I'm finally free of the data risks and the bullsh1t, question is, who will bury their heads in the sand and say , well, I don't really care, one day you just might and it might have far more serious consequences than we think.
Great advice, you'd get out if portlaoise prison easier,

Some, but the two platforms are very different. Numero uno, there is zero anonymity on Facebook. I haven't a bulls notion who you "JupiterKind" are in Real Life™, what you look like, how old you are, where you live, or who your mates are, or any of that. Unless you choose to give up those details on here(which is frowned upon as a feature of such a forum). Secondly, Boards and similar are not tracking and harvesting your personal data to build up a picture of you as a product they can sell to, or sell to others. So not much irony at all really.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

And I can attest that I am not "verycool" IRL.

Yes and that above was my main reason for getting rid of Facebook, others are not concerned about any of their data and are willing for it to be used by others as they choose and couldn't care less.

This was all in post one if people bothered to read it , perhaps the Poll wasn't obvious enough for some ?

+ the abuse on some groups on Facebook was really disgusting. As much as I give out about over modding here, I'd rather post here than FB.

So I thought my account was deleted last January , and it wouldn't reactivate after 2 weeks of not signing in. Just signed in there and lo and behold, I only deactivated it. In the process of deleting, did anyone "download their information" before continuing? Is it worth the hassle?

I downloaded it and it had every pic I ever posted, message sent and I'm almost certain voice call , I'd have to go back and check.

I posted a link to the site that instructs on how to fully delete your FB account in I think page one of this thread.

The issue also is that there are tonnes of apps that will also most likely have your data.

Facebook make it difficult and/or confusing to fully delete your account.

I requested it so I'll have a gawk. I'd have said I was a miserly poster but I know I'm gonna be surprised.

There was never an option to fully delete your account but I just checked there now and you can.
Type in your password and all your data and account is deleted after 14 days as long as you dont sign in atall for those 14 days

Last time I downloaded all the info it was incomplete. It contained all the pics I'd uploaded, posts, etc, but it didn't include all the other information FB had collated about me, including stuff like where other people had tagged me in posts, that sort of thing.

But that's technically correct as 'you' didn't post or upload it.

Say a friend uploaded and tagged an image which had you in it, it wouldn't be part of your downloaded data. It doesn't 'belong' to you (the irony!).

I get your point, but if FB are storing personal information relating to me, then they're obliged to supply it to me on request. Doesn't matter who uploaded it.

Though I suspect they're counting the 'download your data' option as something separate from a formal data access request, but I'm just highlighting that there's a lot more information about you that doesn't show up in the data download.
