Hahaha, that captures these lads mindset in one. Cycling isn't new but they think because they spend insane sums on gear that it makes it new. Loads of us have been cycling to school since we were 7 years old, we don't need lycra to do it.

It's a certain type of cyclist btw, not all them.

To be fair, most of the cycling gear is in Aldi every few months so its not going to cost an insane sum.

Probably less than the lads playing 'weekend footie' spend on boots and jerseys.

Definitely isn't less than weekend football. Most ppl buy a pair of €40 boots in sportsworld that do you for the year and don't really buy jerseys

I saw a middle aged cyclist knock down a child from behind and cycle over their back. Didn't even stop to look back.

I saw that kid waving a knife at the cyclist, trying to steal his bike. Understandable actions from the cyclist.

You might. Plenty of 'fancy' boots and jerseys across the astro pitches of the country at the weekend. Which is fine.

Why wouldn't someone spend a few quid on something they enjoy?

you mean get to see a bit of the countryside while causing 5km tailbacks !!

I think the worst I ever caused was 3 cars for 30 seconds on a bendy section.

But stories get legs I suppose. And maybe those drivers WERE actually the most important people in the world.

A man in lycra is horrible to look at.

Stop fuc*king looking at them then!!

Cycling is fantastic for keeping you fit, really great for building leg muscles.
So are lots of other sports. There seems to be an attitude amongst the more serious cyclists that they're in a unique position, and that everybody else, especially car drivers that interrupt their enjoyment of the public roads is a beer swilling, snack eating lard arse. It may surprise them that many of those car drivers are on their way to partake in other outdoor sports that are just as good, if not better for them than cycling. Low bone density anyone?

It’s incredible how you are able to read the minds of these cyclists to know for sure that they think anyone who doesn’t cycle is useless, fat arsehole...

I have cycled in groups before and based on my experiences cyclists are shockingly very similar to average, normal people - many have recently taken up the sport because recent injuries forced them to give up football or jogging. Rather than thinking less of people who play football they are quite jealous of them.

Please keep on imagining strangers think little of you though, seems like a very healthy way to be...

If they carry a bag with a change of clothes to change in and out of just to go into a shop? Would that make it easier for you? You could do your shopping online if you are finding life tough.

I would do that myself rather than look ridiculous but perhaps I am too concerned about my appearance.
I am pretty sure doing my shopping online wouldn't make my life noticeably less tough, thanks for the advice all the same.

People spending their hard earned money on a sport they love. How dare they!

All you need is a rolled up sock and you have a ball. No need for anything else!

    Bitter, jealous, small minded people.

Are they meant to cycle in single foil on the roads?

The amount of times I see 2 or 3 in a row having a full blown conversation with a massive tailback behind them, the arrogance is breathtaking.

plus the roaring and shouting they do is unnecessary, they constantly startle my dogs

TBF it's not a bad thing, but a lot of them have the most smug annoying faces. The whole get up is quite cringeworthy it must be said, zero chance of them doing it in football shorts and a t-shirt, has to be the most expensive equipment, reminds me of every middle aged tennis club player ever, shows up in all white with the best equipment and loses in straight sets to the guy with the 20 year old racket.

I wouldn't go to a bull fight in football shorts. They are disgraceful

When you play golf competitively a typical round will last 4+ hours due to a creeping slow play which is incredibly frustrating. When you're standing and waiting 5-10 minutes between shots on a drizzly afternoon, your mind starts to subtly wonder why the **** you're doing this. Splaying the ball all over the place doesn't help and you decide to jack it in.

You then think what else can I do that takes 4 hours+, get's me out of the house, away from the wife/kids, get some fresh air, good exercise?

Running? Hell on the joints. Cycling? Bingo!!

It may surprise you to know that I can't read minds any more than you can. The comments on some of the anti-motorist cycling threads on some forums here would suggest that some do though.

No, there is no rule of the road to cycle single file. It's not arrogance, it's safety.

Bunching up forces traffic behind to overtake as they would overtake a normal car which makes it safer for the cyclists.

Its cos they can't afford a motorbike :pac:

So it’s just rudeness and inconsiderate behavior from cyclists.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

You want to try to overtake a short bunched up group of cyclists or a long drawn out group in single file?

Anyway where are you going in such a hurry, you've a nice car, you're sitting down listening to the radio. Chill out my man.

2 abreast is the recommended for safety.

Usually I would single out ff I hear traffic behind however that depends on the behaviour of the driver when they're behind. A loud agressive beep will just get me staying where I am, and the driver getting a salute and a not too complimentary remark on the size of their manhood when going past.

It's easy to take the píss out of anyone who's into their hobby. Those gimp suit wearing cyclists who probably shave all their body hair. Those idiots playing football and screaming at their mates like they're in the world cup final. Wind surfing off dollymount, losers with all their gear and they're barely moving. Eejits playing rugby, a bunch of rugger buggers who play soggy biscuit in the changing room afterwards. Lads out playing golf, imagine paying to hit a ball around a field. Losers hiking with their "gators" and walking poles. Remote control cars in st. annes park, loser adults with toy cars. People playing tennis with their white outfits, think they're in Wimbledon. Swimmers wearing their budgie smugglers, state of them.

Can people have no interests, just go to the pub and do nothing else please?

They startle your dogs? *clutches pearls*

Grinds my gears. People who have outdoor hobbies are pretentious pr1cks but god beware people spend a day indoors eating chippy food, then they're a lazy overweight burden to the healthcare system.
At least people are out and socialise and maybe even bring their kids, don't see anything wrong with that. I don't necessarily need to understand the attraction watching 22 lads kicking a ball around for 90 minutes but then people claim my crossstitching is a granny hobby and I'm not even 30, you do you.

The joints - wear & tear etc. Cycling is easier on the old joints.
