Jeeps. Declan said Roscommon “folded” against Tyrone. Don’t like his timing.

Any word on a new Cisteoir yet?

And I wonder if the games are all sell outs this weekend
Tickets available for Hyde park online, none for Healy.

Hopefully that is due to Roscommon supporters not interested after the trimming from Tyrone and that Donegal supporters take up those tickets.

Wouldn't imagine there's any fear of the Hyde selling out. There won't be more than maybe 8,000 Ros supporters there, although I could be wrong, what are Donegal likely to bring? Unless it's over 10,000 the place won't be at capacity.

Difficult to even stab a guess tbh.

In Ballybofey I wasn`t to impressed with the numbers, Clones in the semi the place was half empty but that could have been lack of support for Down and against Fermanagh it looked as if their supporters greatly out-numbered ours.
Croke Park again difficult to tell, but the timing of the game would not have helped.
Hopefully we get big support and a win to take it back to Ballybofey in two weeks with Dublin beating Tyrone this weekend.

Anyone could be forgiven for thinking that Donegal have beaten Roscommon already. Roscommon seem to save their best peeformances for Hyde park, they’re bound to be hurting after last week, it wouldn’t exactly be that big of a shock if they win. The loss of McBrearty is being downplayed imo, time will tell.

I certainly would not underestimate them. Especially not in the Hyde and I doubt there are many Donegal supporters who underestimate the loss of Paddy McBrearty.

    Last 2 games against Roscommon

    2016

    2017

Paddy had little impact aside from the frees in 2016. Eoin McHugh and Marty O'Reilly with 3 points each in 2017! Murphy with 3 points from play in 2016!

Our half forward line need to make a difference and do the bulk of the scoring. Ryan will need to chip in with a couple. Jamie will need to take the chances he will certainly get. Michael needs to kick his frees. Paddy would probably help, but we should have enough to win this game without him.

We will get plenty of scores against Roscommon. Just need to be sure we don't let them walk through our defence.

I doubt Patton will be under as much pressure as he was the last day. Hopefully he gets back on track. But outfield players would need to work harder.

I am fairly confident but a bit worried all the same. They have nothing to lose after the last day and a game to come against Dublin. This is all or nothing for them as much as it is for us. Would be great if we are still in contention when Throne and Niall come to town.

    Up Donegal.

Dublin haven’t lost a championship match since 2014.

Is Tyrone really the team to break that cycle?

No, even a team made up from Kerry, Galway and Donegal would struggle to beat Dublin.

If we lose today, then the management and players need to have a good luck at themselves. This is probably the easiest last 8 game we have ever had.

Can't see Throne beating Dublin. Dublin were comfortably better than us last weekend but will have had plenty to work on this week. That Throne team doesn't have the leaders of the past. They may well make it difficult for Dublin but I see the Champions rising to the challenge. If Colm Cavanagh is hobbled, it will make life even more difficult for Throne.

But, aren’t just a teeny tiny bit nervous? I agree with everything you said, but.....

A wee bit. More worried for us to be honest.

That’s the sort of attitude that leads to these things becoming the norm.

Dublin playing 2 games at home is unfair. We should be pressing very hard to have that rectified. It’d be no harm for the championship either having a big game like that down the country.
No. The attitude that leads to these becoming the norm is everyone agreeing to the set up last year and then kicking up about it 2 week before the fixture when they realize they’re the ones playing Dublin. You’d think at the very least the Ulster counties would have raised the issue a couple of months ago. Obviously it will be changed for next year. It’s a pity the Donegal delegates at congress didn’t realize the bleeding obvious when they voted for it

Too much being made of the kick outs. I thought Patton actually did as well as could be expected given that Dublin are absolutely exceptional in their press and it was his first time against it.

Interestingly, if you compare the kickouts in the 2014 semi final and last Saturday - the percentages are practically the same. 39% of Donegal kick outs went to Dublin in 2014 (40% on Saturday) that doesn’t mean Pappa malfunctioned in 2014.

The main thing for me was his flight and pace of his kicking was still really good, just that Dublin work feriously hard to intercept and hassle once the ball is released. The clip of Jack Mac is a good one, that’s a really good ball from Patton but the Dublin player was far, far hungrier.

Keep saying it too but Cluxton was absolutely exceptional on Saturday again.
At least 3 of his kickouts were absolute car crashes that on a par with the Donaghy one in 2014, that should have resulted in goals. Thank God O Callaghan was woefully out of form. Even the McCaffrey one was a hospital ball. Don’t know why keepers continue hitting those ones as the man under it is a sitting duck

Armagh in 2014 was probably easier but we didn't win enough ulster titles to get many other easy ones. Hard to know how last week's hammering and home advantage will affect Roscommon. I'm nervous.

This is a huge game for us today. While I think almost everyone is pleased with how we've played this year and signs of progress, we've only managed to beat Cavan and Kildare at home and a load of rubbish teams. Next two games will tell us if we are around the level of Tyrone, Monaghan, Kerry and Galway or if we are a bit off the pace.

McNiallais is due a big game!

Well the only significant game they’ve played there in the last number of years they were well beaten so don’t think we can read too much into that.

It’s nice to be informed so if you’re not prepared to inform yourself then allow me.

It was not possible to cherrypick the parts you liked and remove parts you didn’t. It was not possible to amend the proposal. It was put to delegates to accept or reject. So if you accept then you accept it warts and all.

So this bull**** about “your delegates accepted it” i.e. your delegates voted to accept playing Dublin in CP as if that was THE ONLY THING BEING DISCUSSED at Congress is laughable and being used to hand another advantage to the team that already has the most advantages going for them.

Good lad. As I’ve said already it’s a pity all the people who are so outraged didn’t mention it a bit earlier when it might have been possible to do something about it.

Also it would appear that people seem to think this arrangement is much more unfair than playing Dublin in a one off qf at Croke Park, as I never heard anyone complain about those at the time.

Personally I think the other way was much more unfair. At least in this arrangement you another chance.

Well now, Niall O'Donnell togged out...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,463 ✭✭✭Redsoxfan

    But O'Donnell doesn't start.

    Same team as last week.

Well I suppose it depends how many chances you want to give teams. This is now Roscommon’s 3rd chance this evening. Is it just prolonging the inevitable and wrecking club football.

    Hopefully Eóin Ban is OK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 167 ✭✭Murphy14

Solid display a Murphy master class, encouraging displays Ciaran Thompson, Mc Menamin and Langan, Mac Niallais but for me the highlight was Neil Mc Gee back to his imposing best will need him for Throne maybe we should widen the pitch Throne seem to prefer a narrow pitch !!! Hoping we don't have anymore major injuries Ban didn't look great

I’d say Ban is gone for the year

He was in a sling and walked very slowly off the pitch. It’s something broken or dislocated.
