I hear some of you coughing

But If you came home and saw your beautiful holographic assistant sitting on your bf/gf/husband /wife's lap? Would you be so dismissive?

Last Thursday, I was dumped by a hologram. I'm grand though, because apparently...they don't exist.

You are no more alive than a hologram

The self is kaleidoscopic. Both its definition and description depend on its observer, and as observers are multiple, so is the self, hence, though there is a single being, there is no single self. Moreover, neither the single being nor the multiple self enjoy concrete stability. They change with time and circumstance as those effect observers.

Depends, are they cheaper to keep/maintain than a real wan?

I went out with a hologram for a while, she said she loved me, but I saw right through her... started seeing someone behind her back, ...

I know I'm a mod here and I know I'll probably get hammered for this but I can't help myself.

    OP.

we are all holograms, living in a 3D projection of a 2D world, apparently

I dated a hologram once, but she didn't love me for me. I could see right through her.

I suppose it would be like having a permanent long distance relationship with no physical aspect - but all the mental.
    So no.

Some science folks think we're already living in an artificial matrix, so not that different.

More likely however is that OP's lover in 2030 will be the realisation of one of the Neanderthal brains (currently in petri dishes),
with the intent, of implanting these experimental self-learning entities to a robotic bodies - for a self-determined expression of humanoid form consciousness.

Think Liam Gallagher level inteligence, but obviously more polite, and civilised.

Blade Runner 2049 is an excellent film, one of those rare ones that not only does its predecessor justice but actually surpasses it imo.

And thus a meme was born.

Anyways at this stage I'd date anything!!!!!!

Wait.... out of context I can see how that might stir some people up the wrong way. So let me rephrase:

At this stage I'd date anything, within reason!!!!!!

That.... doesn't really make things better, does it?

Nah. Getting rejected by human men is enough for me. I’m happy with my lot. Kinda.
