Who is the current captain of the U20s btw?

I'd also hope that, along with the current crop of U20s, there might still be one or two from the previous crop? Isn't Akram in the development squad?

    Ryan O Donoghue.

Would it not be better to start afresh new manager new ideas some of the older players to retire and go again in 2/3 yrs times with a fresh new team instead of running the bollox out the old team.

I think the manager is ok provided he starts to try younger guys and persist with them. I always got a feel for the here and now with Rochford and no real eye on the future. Granted he had development squads but he never seemed to persist with the younger guys. He was forced to field Durcan and Hanley because of injuries and suspensions this year which was a blessing in disguise. I hope we nail the U20 and pull a few from this. We still have the bones of a serious outfit and just need a few faces to take over.

I think rochfords problem has been basically every championship game has been knockout due to tough Connacht draws and subsequent early defeats
Then we go deep into the summer which has a knockon effect into the following years league leading to more must win high pressure games

Now he has the whole summer to look at lads and get them together early in league and blend new with old
He has to win Connacht next year . That should be his primary aim. A good league run will help that imo
And then who knows ......we haven’t gone away ;)

Barry Moran is to retire from inter-county football. The @MitchelsGaa player is to travel abroad with work and has informed management and players. He will remain playing with his club for the moment.,

Sorry to hear Barry is calling it a day but he was most definitely struggling to get any game time this year.

He never quite nailed down a regular starting position post 2012 but always gave it his all for the green and red.

Had heard through the grapevine that he was moving abroad, so not too surprised. His intercounty career had probably run its course anyway. Still offering plenty at club level.

His role in the 2015 semi final against dublin was fantastic!! I never seen him get near that again after that. 2016 semi was probably the closest.

He's heading to the Allergan plant in France as head of finance.

    Fair play to Barry.

He was dissapointed not to get a game this year. Good servant for us when he was fit and always done a job.

He made a great impact that day. Fielded a couple of crucial balls. Also done a job as sweeper against Donegal that year.

Fair play to him. Some amount of commitment given to the cause for such little game time, a great lad to have in the squad.

I really liked seeing him play
Pity it didn’t happen often !

I think it being in Croke Park will put a few off though. Hopefully a decent crew will still turn up. I’m looking forward to it.

I know a good crew going and chunk of buses going. The U20 team play a cracking type of football so anyone who saw it on TnaG will be attracted to it.
Also the Dubs v Rossies game will be on so thats a bonus.

Dubs V Rissies should be on the undercard for this.
Best of luck to the Mayo lads
