Spuds, from the garden, with stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon, carrots and broccoli. Not my favourite dish as I'm always hungry an hour after it.

The oul stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon.:D I love it, but haven't made it in a long time. I remember when that was a favourite on many a pub/restaurant menu.

Never yet found a vanilla slice that is anything like the ones from my Lancashire youth. Gave up buying as they were always a disappointment.. ah well! "Age and forgetfulness sweeten memory." (T.S.Eliot) Wish I had one now..

The vanilla slices here are nothing like they used to be as I remember them from the 80s. Lovely flaky pastry, a layer of cream and a separate layer of custard. The only thing that resembles them is the icing on the ones you get these days :(

I have just eaten pasta with pesto sauce, chopped rashers and roasted cherry tomatoes. Garlic bread on the side.

This is day four off the cigs so it will explain my funny mood of late. Tomorrow will be day five and I'm sure of it. Another ten days of hell and I believe it will be easier. It had to be done once and for all. I have a little nicotine replacement help, but food is already tasting different and the morning cough has gone.

Yesterday, I treated myself. After Saturdays exertions over a hot BBQ, I deserved it. Breakfast was sausage sandwiches and a bowl of baked beans on the side. For the WC Final I had a big smoked cod and chips from the local chipper with bread and butter. Bainne was the drink of choice with both. Last night while watching the Sunday Game, I got the munchies so ordered up satay chicken and fried rice. Skinny coke with that. Pure heaven.:D

Chicken fillet, mash, mixed veg and gravy for the girls this evening. Done and dusted. For me, its gonna be a sirloin steak, garlic potatoes and sauteed onions. The drink of choice tonight is an interesting lager from Eastern Europe that I got as a present.

    Good luck with giving up!

Just had dinner of pasta in a creamy, garlicky, cheesy, herby sauce. Then shared an apple lattice with the toddler.

Good luck with getting off the cigs Grandeod. They're a curse. But as you said the grub tastes so much better & the hangovers are only a quarter as bad.

No cream in ours. Cream was very rare in post war UK. Just that lovely thick confectioners custard.....The ones I see do not even look right!

Rather well intentioned but badly cooked....boiled new potatoes, hard boiled egg, and frozen mixed veg; cauiflower, broccoli and carrots.. Still it has filled me!

Having had a full medical check and clearance, I'm sitting down to a coffee and a big sticky cream bun with jam and icing.

Way too much basil here. It shot along with the good weather. So lunch was fresh pasta with basil and tomatoes both from the garden (so proud of myself!) crushed garlic and olive oil.
