Is good day deli a vegetarian only spot?

No but it's very much vegetarian friendly.

There is always a burger and a fish taco on afaik.

Apologies, I did see the fish tacos on the menu, but didn't notice any other dishes with meat. I had the Halloumi Stack, gorgeous white thick toasted bread with two slices of halloumi, two poached eggs, roasted tomato and parsley pesto and with a drink it was €15 but it is a nice place and the food is tasty. I wouldn't go there every weekend!

Another recommendation to add here.
Da Mirco.
I popped in last week. Very nice Italian addition to Cork. It's up where Star Anise used to be. Lovely small menu, food is the real deal. We had the aperativo board ..meat, cheese, tuna-balls (yum!) olives etc with focaccia  (because we are hungry savages) and I had homemade pasta with vodka and salmon.  I've got my beady eyes out for another companion I can drag there already to have that meal again.  Had some of my buddy's chicken stuffed with nuts and rolled in parma. I didn't order this, because it brought back memories of student 'dinner parties' where this was rolled out, but it was flippen gorgeous. Not overcooked dry chicken, it was just right, stuffing was a good texture, parma was proper. Actually thin... not the slab of bacon I've see chicken wrapped in.  We had desserts (tiramisu and a white cake with custard) a bottle of wine as well, and a couple of limoncello's for the road.

I really like Good Day Deli but it is expensive for breakfast. You wouldn't be going there every weekend. I can see why it's expensive though.

Must try Da Mirco. Some of the Italians at work were recommending it, it must be good!

Pretty sure the burger is vegetarian. Could be wrong!

Does anyone know if you have to book the Oyster Tavern generally? Planning on maybe going on Thursday with my girlfriend for our anniversary but not sure if it's normally a place you have to book, even though it says reservations online

Have been once or twice and it has been pretty busy in the food area. Always weekends, though, so wouldn't be totally sure how weekdays would be.

That said, I've been out for food a few times midweek recently and places have been busy enough.

For a special occasion, I'd recommend booking really just in case.

It won't do any harm anyway.

Anybody been to Strasbourg goose lately? Thinking of taking my mum before we go to the Wizard of Oz in a few weeks but haven't been there in ages - was nice when I was there before but must have been a few years ago now.

It's a lentil burger, as tasty as any burger you'll have.

Went to Tedos tapas restaurant on Princes street. Lovely food and reasonable. Staff lovely too. Would recommend if you like Spanish food. Try the sangria.

What's the best value meal / offer in the city these days?

I'm thinking stuff like Ramen €6 before 6 and Spice Route's Chicken Tikka special offer which is €7.

Where else can you get a decent feasht around the €6/7 mark?

Crazy Kebab.
€6 for a kebab the size of your head.
I like the chicken one, not so much the donner.

I just remembered, Umi falafel have a lunch deal for €7.50. Very delicious. Just over my own €7 limit that I requested but I'll allow it as it's so healthy.

Got one of these before. Had to call my girlfriend in to help me get through it and we still couldn't finish it.

Comix on Maylor street has big portions for small money. It's a polish diner basically. Pierogi, golash.. meat with spuds etc.

Chipper in town with massive portions is the fish wife.

Yes. I take half the filling out, put it in a bowl in the fridge and have it for dinner the next day!!

The kebab on a plate (includes chips) is enough for Mrs Beer and myself between us for dinner. (not that we'd do it too often!!)

The meat is a bit on the salty side, though.

Rachel's closing for 3 months for refurb. I did say Monty was done with it but she obviously got some new investors.

If you read the piece in the paper you'll see that he's not.

I must go there, I really like the lowbrow restaurants, providing the food is decent. We could do with more of them and less pizza and burgers! (each to their own though)

Worth splashing out then?
Would it be suitable for a non- raw fish lover?
