Embarrassing stuff over the past week or 10 days. I think there’s some half truths and bull**** on both sides it’s but it’s meaningless at this stage anyway. Walsh Park is being revamped, its the only viable option at this moment and time so let’s get on with.

The appointment of the new senior manager is what I’m concerned about. This is the single most important decision in Waterford GAA circles in a long long time, there is a phenomenal group of players there, once in a generation. There is definetly an All Ireland in them in the very near future. I agree with the poster who said we need to employ a recruitment panel with a professional recruiter to help with the process. This is too important for it to be a ‘job for the lads’ type of appointment. Given the stories coming to light in recent days I don’t beleive that the relevant co board officials should be trusted to make the right decisions in the interest of Waterford hurling.

You’d have to question Cullen’s motives for his comments. Nothing about it for a decade and he comes out now when we’re actually looking like we’ll revamp Walsh Park. It’s not my first preference but we need to do something so let’s just get it done now.
I would agree that there needs to be a recruiter and maybe 2 former players added to that committee. 4 of them is probably overkill but you certainly need to have county board reps on the committee as they will be dealing with the manager going forward.

As much as people dislike Cullen, what he said on WLR was common knowledge around the town for the last 3 or 4 years

They need a new management team by the time the senior/intermediate hurling championships start up again in August. So they can look at teams and a few players

It isn’t difficult to join the dots on this one. If you listen to the names that he checked on WLR - all local businessmen who are not too fond of the Co. Board. Businessmen that Cullen socialized with in his time as Minister. He was put up to it by said businessmen in order to bring down the Co. Board.

100 pc. It’s most unhelpful of Cullen to come out and say all this now. A few years ago might have opened the debate at least and forced the CB into doing something sooner. Truth is the Co Boards hand is only being forced because of the system change in Munster championship. Remember PJ Ryan’s cringeworthy public rant earlier in the year about it ‘being the worst decision in the history of the GAA’ etc. It was only bad for them because they knew they were up **** creek with that shack of a stadium. Had the system not changed there would have been no plans to do anything with it for another 30 years. These guys live in fear of change and actually having to make positive decisions for the future. It’s all about the here and now and their own self importance.

As regards the new manager of course there needs to be the co board input but any chance any of them will put their hand up and say; we’re not the best people to make that decision here, let’s leave that to the experts and people that know the game’. No, it’s too much of a power trip for these guys who think they know better than everyone. All the big successful organisations the world over use expert headhunters to fill their top jobs. It should be a similar approach for this

Great win in the camoige yesterday. Real chance of making the knock out stages for the first time

So if we’re to believe all the rumours doing the rounds then the following names are in the hat for the waterford gig: Anthony Daly, Anthony Cunningham, Brendan Cummins, DJ Carey, Matty Kenny, and add to these Jason Ryan, Sean Power, Fergal Hartley and Dan Shanahan. All of these to be ably assisted by Tony Browne, Ken Mcgrath and Paul Flynn. Have I left anyone out?

My time has passed ,I think, just give Sean Power the job , he is the only fella from the above mentioned to have achieved anything , I wouldn't mind being part of his background team, I'll do it for nothing

Just read Tom Murphy's letter in the local papers. Just wondering what club is he a member of, cause he never said.

Tom just wrote to the papers to give himself a pat on the back and to say a job well done to himself.

why that was even printed is beyond me!

fairly short sighted out of our great chairman ringing a sponsor telling him he is no longer welcome in Walsh park! Waterford GAA is a complete farce a the moment. The monkeys running it wouldn't run a bath. Term up next year be another round of musical chairs. Sad.

If Ennis is among the venues he thinks we should be aspiring to, there won't be much work required.

He gave a lot of money/cars etc to Waterford GAA over the past few years and losing that will be damaging

Can't see an outside manager coming in now unless another backer is found
