Not making excuses for any flaws in his game, but surely the fact that Lukaku has been basically on the go non-stop since last August isn't a help.

He needs a rest, a few weeks minimum. However, we need our main striker preparing for the new season asap. Maybe rest is the best form of preparation for Lukaku at this stage though.

Think he'll definately need a few weeks rest but just judeging on his personality he seems like a man that cant wait to jump back into the swing of things.

Currently there's a lot of pressure on Martial to fill the void.

Well both he and Martial are gonna have to step up until Lukaku's ready to go.

Absolutely, however that can be as much a flaw. Same as with a player who gets a head injury in a game but says that he is fine and wants to continue - It's an admirable attitude in the short-term, but not always the best course of action to take for the long-term.

I thought myself that Jose was hinting at wanting another signing up front with his 'Without Lukaku, I have no presence, nothing' comments after the FA Cup final. That's why as perturbed as I was with links to Arnautovic, I understood them.

Now with the way the WC has gone for Belgium, and the fact that it has kept Lukaku playing competitively into mid-July, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a new striker being a priority for Jose.

He will be on a break as long as lukaku

All points to bale coming in for me..... I expect the deal should be done in the coming weeks after he has had his hair cut in Wales.

    Yep.

Our league campaign starts on August 10th. Quite possibly, we are looking at starting the new season without the likes of Lukaku, Fellaini, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford, Jones, Smalling, Young. Even though Jones and Smalling are not fan favourites, I'd imagine Jose wants to hold on to and use at least one of them, so therefore we need them back asap.

Matic, Herrera, Mata, Sanchez, Martial, DDG, Valencia, Shaw, even Fred. We'll be relying on these players heavily for the first few games I imagine.

Selling Ronaldo and Bale in one pre-season?

Eh yeah it's quiet obvious that s what's gonna happen...... No?? Maybe not ha.

If they got on hazard I could see it happening but I'm mostly only dreaming.

It's good to see that some players are back and busying themselves with the new season in mind.

Mata and Herrera made no delay in signing Dalot up to the Los Amigos stable...

Kieran McKenna settling into his new coaching role...

The McKenna promotion is interesting hearing them talking about how it was down to him having the underage teams playing the intricate movements in the midfield and attack last year i hope he can have a simillar effect on the first team attack.

    De Gea
    Shaw/Dalot
    Smalling
    Bailly
    Valencia
    Matic
    Fred
    Herrera
    Martial
    Mata
    Sanchez

Probably be our starting XI first day.

Nah, it won't be a "star" striker. I do think we'll be looking at someone of a Manduzikc level though; someone who will get plenty of minutes but be a very definite second to Lukaku. Someone doing the role Giroud does for Chelsea.

I'm as excited about the promotion of this guy as I am about any new signings we could make.

Potentially, he could make some of our stagnant but talented players seem like new signings.

Of course, what the manager says will be final, so McKenna's input will be limited. However, the fact that Jose himself noticed the need to hire such a person, chose McKenna himself after noticing his accolades and good work at youth level, that's all quite promising.

There's been a few major changes on the coaching staff, and I think this will only be a good thing for the team.

I agree. Jayo suggested Bale and despite my best hopes, I don't feel it would be him or anywhere near that level of superstar.

Basically...Looks like Arnautovic is back on the menu, boys.

Watching the coaching sessions on mutv although been limited it did look alot more like Jose delegating to individual coaches for the little bit of technical work that they did show.

People on here made claims that jose over looked attacking coaching in favour if defensive I don't really believe it but it surely can't be the case with McKenna in this year.

Maybe Jose is just looking to improve on something he was already doing, rather than start something which he never did at all.

Last season after Pogba got that double against City, Pogba credited Michael Carrick for giving him attacking advice in training. That to me says that there is a focus on attack.

Whether it's Jose himself or he delegating to his staff, I really don't mind once the thing gets done. Fergie himself wasn't exactly hands-on in every aspect of the coaching but still had titles and trophies raining down on Old Trafford

I'll be honest, I was very surprised by some of Jose's comments and actions towards the end of last season. He was quite honest and humble when it came to talking about his own job and knowledge - He basically admitted that he doesn't know everything and there are people more qualified in certain areas who might know better than him, and therefore he would hire them for his coaching staff.

Sanchez and martial up top is not something i would call light. Nearly every team in the league would love to have those 2 as striker options.

Ideally, it would be a thing of beauty.

Realistically, given their contributions and performances from January to May, the thought is frightening.

I agree with you again and I also believe it's a change if idea by him that he is handing iff responsibility in the coaching but as I said before personally I back him but he has to make a massive Improvement this year or he is gone simple as it's his head on the block no more excuses.

We ain't like other clubs we don't want a manager that's nice and says the right things we want one that will have us chalenging for trophies and winning.

Leicester apparently bid £26.5m for Mina.

That's going to put fuel on the fire with regards us and Maguire.

That story always bugs me, because the magic advice that Carrick gives to Pogba, the advice that blew his mind and opened his eyes? It was to make runs without the ball and arrive late into the box like Lampard used to do.

Like, no **** sherlock, thats what we all thought Pogba would be doing from the day and hour he rejoined the club. What next, Lukaku gets the sage advice to try and find space in the box?

It just bugged me is all, if Pogba needed that advice then I thought it said something about him.

Are there not stories of them going to offer Maguire an improved contract.

Not United related but Hazard looks like he wants to go to Madrid, his comments about it weren't the usual stuff from footballers.

Was more the fact that advice was being given and Carrick was settling into a mentor/ coaching role, rather than the advice itself being a thing of genius.
