Daley Blind going back to Ajax for around €16m potentially riding to €21m.

Just saw a video on Facebook of City having a parade type presentation/,unveiling for Mahrez. There are about 27 people at it not including the lads dressed up in mutant Smurf costumes. I thought our unveiling of Sanchez was odd but
Christ on a bike this is a whole new level of bizarre, it's like something from eurotrash.

City do such bizarre things, their whole “shark” thing along with the lit up runway into the stadium for the players after they’ve got off the coach, really weird to me.

Not a bad price for a paperweight.

That’s great dealing by the club.. Inter want Darmian on loan supposedly it’s a view of a permanent deal but United holding out for a sale

Dejan Lovren interview, will give us all pause for thought

United, Liverpool or even City :) some players have a story we couldn't even fathom.

Blind had a couple of good spells at CB, and Jose did favour him for a bit, but it's time for him to go.

Yes, we need squad players and Blind was a good one, but his use over the past season points to us needing squad players which the manager actually wants to use.

We'll never forget Martial's debut against Liverpool, but Blind scored a peach of his own that day to break the deadlock. For me, his greatest contribution in a United shirt...

So with Blind going, that's us down a potential CB and LB in the squad. Whatever about CB, we're getting worryingly light on players who can (and have for a spell) play LB.

I know a lot of people in here disagree, but i think Harry Maguire would be a really good signing. One if the biggest issues in our team last season was how poor our CBs (barring Bailly) are on the ball and he would instantly improve that. The only worry with him is pace, but that's the case with loads of quality centre backs over the years. Jose knows his centre backs and I think people will be pleasantly surprised after a couple of months if he does join.

One of Smallings greatest strengths is taking the ball out from the back

    I don't buy that

However I do like McGuire as a player, I'm not so sure about his defensive positioning however.

England's backline was weak. It only really got tested by Columbia and Croatia and it crumbled under a bit of pressure

Alderweireld is available and lads here are talking up Harry Maguire for 50m.
    The mind ****ing boggles.

Sad to see Daley going, bit of a john o Shea.. jack of all but master of nine. I would’ve enjoyed seeing him and magic as a two with Pogba just ahead. But he seemed injured most of last season and that seemed to be his death kneel unfortunately.

I’m sure our female supporters and some male ones too will miss this beautiful man and his lovely hair about the place. Go well Daley

Best of luck to Blind. He always came across as likeable and put in a good shift when asked to.

Is he available? Everything thus far reads as if Levy is doing his usual "we want **** off money or we will keep him" stuff and maybe his age and injuries, coupled with the ridiculous price tag, has us seeking alternatives.

Wish he was a master of nine he would be some player to player around.

But Maguires price tag is even more ridiculous than Aldy's. At least he is a big upgrade on what we have unlike Maguire.

If Toby was available for around the 50 million mark I'd be all over it mate he has maybe 5 years left in him but we have a lot if quality young defenders that he could help bring on.

Toby in and out with mike smalling for 20 odd million and I'd be happy camper.

I disagree completely. Smalling is appalling on the ball, to my eyes.

Edit: Actually, appalling is a bit absolutist. He doesn't do enough for my liking when bringing the ball out and panics a bit when clearing. He doesn't look for the out ball for a counter enough, which is crucial for a Jose team that always requires precision in transition phases.

    Potential cbs :

Bailly, lindelof, Jones, smalling, Rojo, TFM.

    Potential lbs :

    Young, Shaw, Rojo, Darmian.

I argue for an LB and a CB, but in terms of numbers we aren't thin at all. I think some more sales (Darmian at least) will happen, especially if we sign a lb (which we absolutely should)

Then hard stopping, turning around and passing backwards to the other cb or right back.

He is rubbish at bringing the ball out.

Or miscontrolling, panicing, diving to give away a free kick and get booked for it.

Maguire is much younger and has the potential to be an amazing cb. Alderweireld will not improve much from current levels (currently higher than Maguire).

I would also say Aldys experience is what we need, potential we already have in lindelof and Bailly.

Simon Stone saying no interest in Alderweireld.
