God it pains me that Fergie overlooked Zidane having a poor tournament for Poborsky who had a great one. From stories they had all scouted and signed off on Zidane but the poor '96 tournament and reported fee of £5m ruled him out.. to think years later fergie claimed he'd win multiple champions leagues with Zidane and 10 pieces of wood.... what could and should've been

I thought he didnt sign zidane as he didnt want to upset Cantona?

Sure Eric retired in '96 so why would they not have bought him then, he left Bordeaux in '96 to join Juve

    He retired in 97

I'm convinced I remember Fergie saying the deal to Juve was done by the time United went to get involved. (He could have been lying to save face)

Someone has to try get it up for them.

I bet you got it up ye filth merchant...

21 players and two England internationals signed directly from Liverpool but our own Stephanie Roche didn't get a call up. Fair play to Casey Stooney and the club, this isn't just a window dressing excercise

    C'mon the girls ;)

Maybe so Mitch. I'd also heard Bordeaux asked for 5m and Edwards told them to get stuffed. We'll never know the truth of it as it never happened and all sides will try and save face.

On Bangkok's point yes Fergie was made aware of him in '95 by Eric himself and Les Kershaw who was chief of scouting said we need to sign him too whilst Eric was serving the ban but Fergie as you bth said didn't want to upset Eric. Given Eric recommended him I'm sure there would've been no issue

I'm actually interested to see who they brought in, and how they do. The idea of starting a team from scratch, but being able to sign professional players to it, is really interesting to me.

Where did he say that? I only remember he wasn’t signed to accommodate Eric the king

Did Cantona not tell Fergie about Zidane while he was playing club ball in France?

Or just buy a super box with all of the above channels and then spend what you save on subscriptions to MUTV & BT in the pub watching Josés men mount a run at the league title

Mason Greenwood looking totally phased and unsure of himself in first team training. Poor kid.

Nice of superstar lee grant to allow the other kid to score.... he just pulled up and whispered in the kids ear... i let you score... but i could've broken you if i wanted..... that's why i tape my wrists so tightly....

Is it James Garner that gets done by the second little drag back before the pass?

Smalling may as well retire if VAR comes into the PL, he'd be giving away a penalty a half.

Think of the money he'll make on image rights.

I think this pre season is going to be very important for Shaw he is guaranteed to get a few games at the start of the season he needs to play so good that jose cant pick young ahead if him which judging by the loyalty Jose has given young is going to be hard.

The fact that both Shaw and Young look like hanging around makes me less certain that we're going to sign a LB. I'd really like to see Sandro come in.

No I don't think we will sign a left back at this stage, id be happy with an top class right winger and probably center back.
