NCT failed on rear axle

    Hi, i failed NCT on rear axle inbalance by 44 percent. Does that mean that I have to change my back break pads? Or there is something else that needs to be done?

    It depends. May just be an adjustment needed. Bring it to your mechanic.

    So there's 44% imbalance on your brakes on rear axle. Right?
    How's the imbalance on parking brake?

    What car is it (make, model, engine, year).

    8 percent on parking brake. It's an old fiat seicento.

    In that case, there's no brake pads there.
    It's drum brakes in the rear, which use brake shoes.

    However small imbalance of parking brake, suggest that shoes are probably OK.

    I'd put my bet on seized brake cylinder there, as they are known to seize on those cars.

    They should be very cheap to buy, and rather simple to replace, so I wouldn't expect any high costs if you find a right garage.

    Yip this man is on the ball, take a little extra time and change the brake fluid too.
