Restoration of a muscle car

    Hi,

    I've recently found out im due to be the owner of an old 67 Ford mustang in the near future.

    After thinking about it I've decided it's a project Is like to restore over time.

    Does anyone know anywhere that have mechanics specialised in this type of restoration so I've can do my due deilingance and research and have them look it over and make a plan?

    Depends of what needs doing tbh. Those cars are relatively simple beasts so don't need a witch doctor to diagnose or fix them

    Like any old car they rust, places to watch for are the floor pans, the air ducts under the dash,the cowl needs to be cut out to do it properly. The boot floor around the spring hangers also rust badly.
    Everything is repairable and almost all parts are available relatively cheap from suppliers like NPD.
    The drivetrains are simple and bulletproof but if it hasn't got a power steering and front disc brakes I would seriously consider them as upgrades as they make it a lot better to drive.

    I wasn't going to venture it alone with my limited ability but maybe some parts need to be.

    I am restoring my 67 fastback at the moment, normally rust is floor pans, torque boxes, cowl top hats, arches and also normally pin hole rust through the general body work

    Chilli moto in the UK will do all your replacement panels , no need to bring them in from the UK anymore

    Down side you have to collect, most body panels won't be couriered due to risk of damage

    Worm gear in the steering usually goes, resulting in a lot of play in the steering, sometimes the rag joint goes too.
    Unisteer do a good steering kit, as do RRS

    If you have hubs and shoes on your brakes, the wilwood kit is brilliant, I got a rod and custom complete IFS kit which upgrades everything at the front.
    My advice for the restore is strip the car, get it blasted . Find a local to weld if necessary.
