I have an 04 focus and I need work on the front electric windows. I can hear crunching or grinding from the passenger one and the driver side one could fail again, my mechanic friend said. I'd prefer to get someone else as he had the car for 3 days and didn't repair them. I am in Limerick so anyone with recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Seamus Mc Grath Motor Servicing, Sexton St. He has a mechanic working there who specialises in electrical problems.
Christy Madden in Eastlink Business Park is another.

I'd say you need an auto electrician who is good with car electrics more than a mechanic. I'd recommend Des Kennedy for that, he is located on the Greenhilll road in Garryowen not too far from the old greyhound track (Market's Field).

I had this happen in an 03 focus a few years ago. Almost certainly a window reg and a very common problem. The cables rust and snap/unwind and then wind up the motor. If you are handy with DIY it's an OK job. I did mine in about an hour or less. If you're not DIY minded your mechanic should be able to do this quite handily. +2 for Seamus btw.

I've always used Des but his opening hours now aren't great, think it's 10am to 4pm and closed possibly from 12pm to 1pm for lunch, anytime I've passed between those hours he's closed.

You don't need an auto electrician to fix a window regulator issue.
