Clare Daly is a member of the Indepenents 4 change party.

not very good pratice to post stas without citing source ? https://www.kildarestreet.com/td/clare_daly/dublin_fingal and the caveats. They are also might be more back and forth from oppositions members, and interruptions from government side.

the government party and ther other larger party have the minister and frontbench spokesmen speak for them and their party.

Had an interesting chat with Brendan Ryan last week and was very impressed by his contribution, based on the conversation we had and talking to other people.

Darragh O'Brian is doing very well and getting good ezposure through R.T.E and Newstalk and from what I have heard he has performed very well.

The 1 time I heard Louise O'Reilly on the radio I thought she was decent.

I cant take the other 2 at all. Alan was very good on one of the radio shows around the time Enda was going.

Agree with expectationlost that she gets a lot more time to talk/rant.

Do any of our local TD's have a surgery tomorrow (Saturday)? Need to speak to one before Monday.

With the mess in Rush at the moment I would love to get a few locals on here.

There is serious bad feeling towards our reps for inept performance on the issue of the works underway for the much needed sewage treatment plant. I have heard the calmest of people frothing at the mouth at them.

does the froth look anything like untreated sewage in the sea?

From one or two yes but nothing like the sewage from the offices of Fingal CC

Have to say, it's a total mess. It's not the fact that they are doing the work, but the way they went about it.Everything they did was reactive (letter drops -although I haven't seen any letter yet...., shuttle bus, stop/go on the Palmer rd....)they had their plans in place and really gave no thought to the impact they were going to have. I understand the programme(my background is in this field) but I also know that firstly, programmes can be changed and secondly, the programme was likely agreed way back when Jons won the tender. So they knew for months what would need doing but didn't bother telling anyone until the last minute.I wouldn't be surprised if their notification to the community tied in with the terms and conditions on their road opening license....🙄 I do not buy this excuse of 'Palmer Rd is not the official diversion'. That's not the point; clearly no consideration was given to people who need to access schools and the GAA club among other locations (never mind emergency services access) neither of which are particularly great stretches of the imagination to think about.I just think the whole thing has been handled terribly. And as for local reps, that system is equally inefficient. Why should we have to lobby local reps to be treated with the basic courtesy of an earlier notification of a road closure and a bit of thought given to safe diversions and provisons of replacement public transport?Surely a plan to address this stuff should be a basic element of a tender for a job such as this, with multiple road closures around the town.
I just think fingal and IW have been incredibly high-handed and quite ignorant in their dealings with all this and as much as I hate to say it-the citizens of Skerries or Malahide would not be treated like this if the work was being done in their town.

    Excellent post.

I have yet to met anyone complaining about the works just the planning and the disregard for people.

No faith whatsoever in any local reps.

so its that time again when councillors quit to co-opt their replacement and give them some profile

Co-options deails via AK blog https://adriankavanaghelections.org/2016/07/06/city-and-county-council-members-co-options-and-changes-since-the-2014-local-elections/ I see Ken Farrell is "retiring" to give Robert O'Donoghue a ready up. https://www.labour.ie/robertodonoghue https://www.independent.ie/regionals/fingalindependent/news/i-just-tried-to-do-my-best-36646240.html which vote is talking about here? Kf's attendance was high http://meetings.fingal.ie/mgAttendance.aspx?XXR=0&DR=01%2f06%2f2014-26%2f07%2f2030&ACT=Go&UID=109 a little less so in the past year

Another long time councillor resigning is David O'Connor to become President of Cricket Ireland, he couldn't do both or wait a year to do this? https://www.balbriggan.net/single-post/2018/06/25/Cllr-David-OConnor-stepping-down-after-nearly-20-years-on-Fingal-County-Council
he is being replace by former Fine Gael Councillor now independent Cathal Boland.

I think if you step down within a year before elections that you shouldn't be allowed to be replaced, unless you were elected to another position.

And Cathal Boland to retire from public life

    Surely Not??

    2004!

but he did try to get elected again in 2014 as an Independent and was the highest losing independent, so its somewhat appropiate, and I doubt he'll seek to run again https://electionsireland.org/result.cfm?election=2014L&cons=13

I only noticed him recently from his column in the North County Leader where he repeats pro-EU briefs he has been given http://www.northcountyleader.ie/?s=cathal+boland

its funny to see candidates start a blog about local issues that ends abrutly when they don't get elected or even when they do http://cathalboland.com/category/fingal-blog/

does David O'Connor have a protege or assistant?

    What is Alan at

Claiming damages of 15K, no damage apparently to his car, Judge awards 2.5K and states some aspects of the claim are ''unusual''.

Photo of him putting up posters in Skerries

    https://www.thesun.ie/news/2827484/alan-farrell-fine-gael-td-photo-ladder-court/
Farrell alleged he suffered neck and shoulder issues which affected his personal and professional life for up to 18 months following an accident in Drumcondra, Dublin, but Judge Michael Coghlan said he did not suffer a 'significant injury' and only awarded him €2,500
