He manages to establish a slow unstable connection. The pad tells him that it is the wifi signal from Roland's core. A distorted voice signal comes through.

"Dr. Cole, it's dark...can you reconnect me...please? Network cables damaged...I am alone"

Mufasta'r, who's still assisting the good doctor in his endevours to reconnect to the central hub, tries to follow along in case his assistance may be required.

"Sorry about the whole... ripping apart hub, including the mechanics that allowed us to enjoy terran simulated gravity while we were on our stroll about...". He says to the party as he shrugs.

"Who knew a high setting on such a small rifle could do such damage".

The room to the North has a window covered with blood, a few scientists have been shoved through the glass, skulls broken.

Strapped to an operating table is a beast with eight legs and two large tongues whipping about.

Ooc : Crystalline, or is this something else? Also, how big are those tongues and how far away is Lena from them?

Lean can see crytalline growths in the beast's chest. The tongues cannot reach them by a few meters, though one wouldn't want to get to close to the smashed window.

Kei moves over to Doctor Cole. "Hey Doc, I've got a bad idea. Since you're back online can you override the security lockouts on that ship we were going to commandeer and patch in the basic four flight controls* and the forward view feed to one of these stations? If we can't get to the ship..."

Ooc : taking it the window is between it and her?

Lena clicks her tongue twice rapidly and holds her rifle low ready.
"Hey, you on the bed. You got 5 seconds to explain how you're valuable to me aside from being able to tell me what I had for lunch 2 days ago with one kiss. 5..."

The beast simply snarls and roars, raging against the plasteel bonds on the operating table.

Aimed shot at the brain, so.

Nathan attempts to trigger the emergency containment protocols for the neutronium lab. Hopefully there's something in place to counter a breach of containment.

Now that the connection is back let's try this again.

Nathan checks the signature of the transmission to see if this is really Roland or someone impersonating him.

"Hmm, worth a try." he says and scans for the easiest target that would fit them all.

OOC: Was Nathan able to lock out Mant?

It works, but due to the time dilation the ten minutes it takes for the containment walls to close will seem like three weeks from here.

Nathan checks the signature of the transmission to see if this is really Roland or someone impersonating him.
It matches Roland's signature. Quantum superdense coding means the signal is almost impossible to fake.

OOC: Was Nathan able to lock out Mant?
Locking out Mant is still underway, the supercomputer in control of the facility is no match for Roland, who could break Mant's counter measures in two minutes. His logs are still inaccessible.

Nathan cannot send the ship request out of the science hub, the signal being red shifted outside the radio band.

Roland's stream of thought is too much for the Wi-Fi connection to carry by itself.

Nathan has the option of rebuilding the WiFi network stack for Roland (OOC: Computer check) wind accepting a restricted Roland or descend the corridor and enter the room housing Roland's core and directly repair the main network cables (Separate Computer and Comms checks)

Nathan opens the door but makes sure that he's not standing right in front of it. He checks the room, looking around the corner, Gauss pistol in hand.

He turns his head to the others "If we can access the AI core ahead, we might have a chance to get through."

The door to Roland's core opens quite slowly at first, but when it begins to, it buckles along the edges as gravity tries to pull it through the back wall of AI core room and into Neutronium research. Luckily it holds and opens up.

Nathan is now standing on the walls on the right side of the door, gravity so contorted that the door is now "down". Entering the AI core room will require some sort of controlled descent. Already this close, he is having difficulty carrying his datapad.

Within the room Rolands core glows softly, the giant supercooled paste which houses the AI's mind is as yet unaffected by the gravity due to the magnetic field that helps it keep its shape.

On the back wall of the room lie the remains of several infected. Crushed under the gravity.

Terminals on the back wall warn that gravity there is 500G, near Roland himself 20G. Strange visual effects, like Northern lights, fill the room as time flows non-uniformly through it.

OOC: I'll be piloting Lena while Banjo is away. Just to say I usually don't give dialogue for piloted characters

OOC: How difficult is the procedure one has to perform once near the core? Will Nathan have to get there himself or could one of the others with a stronger physique be instructed on what to do?

"Hey Doc, need some help with your ups and downs?" Kei teases remembering how hard it was to get used to in flight school.

OOC: The latter is possible, Nathan has Advocate 1 and Diplomat 2, so it's a given he can express his intent well. We won't need to roll to see if his instructions are hard to follow.

Nathan leans with his back against the wall next to the door while he checks for any available drones or robots in the area that could be instructed to do the task. 20G is likely too much even for the better trained candidates around him. Also, why take the risk if there are safer options.

There are none in the immediate vicinity. There were some, but they lie in pieces on the back wall. It looks more like the infected were responsible than the gravity.

"Well, we have to operate the core which is that way." He says pointing towards the core.
"My best guess is that we're looking at a 20G environment and I can barely hold on to my datapad here. Any ideas?"

OOC: how about machines not able to perform the operation but strong enough to withstand the gravity that could help us get closer?

The datapad picks up the signal of the ambulance bot currently waiting at the entrance to medical.

"Hmm 20G is tolerable for about 10 seconds if you lie on your back but I don't think you'll be able to do much work like that, maybe a bit of typing... maybe. "I'd gladly sacrifice myself... for any hard labor that might be required...".

    He smiles.

"I dont cave under pressure... as quickly as you terrans do...".

Nathan looks up from his datapad and says "Ok, we've got an ambulance bot incoming which should be able to help with the heavy lifting. I will be able to talk either of you through the procedure but as it's your risk, you'll have to decide who goes and how."

OOC: can the ambulance bot carry someone and come back under the conditions or would we have to use it to secure whoever goes there?
