Things you never had

I realise I have never had a CD radio. I did have a discman but never actually had a CD radio growing up.

We had cassette radios in the 90s. Then the Sony PlayStation came out and you could play CDs on those but we mostly had tapes anyway. I got a discman in the early noughties and then an iPod in 2007 and now everything is on my phone.

But I do sometimes get CDs and I play and copy them on the laptop.

Until today, I bought a mini hi fi system with CD a couple of weeks ago and I'm just after setting it up today. It's very cool. So it got me thinking, was I the only one without a CD radio?

Mr. Frosty. Always wanted one. Pointed this out to my mum recently (I'm 38) and one turned up in the post 2 weeks later.

    That's very funny.

Goodness. There are many things I've never had. But they are almost certainly things I didn't need. Used to want an electric train set but it was not to be.

I've never had any essential oils, which by definition I should have.

....you had it easy, we were a family of 22 growing up living in a shoe box in the middle of the N25, but you never heard us complain........

Aldi or Lidl we're selling cassette radios a couple of weeks ago, with auto stop no less.

No idea where they got the things or who is still making them. Maybe there's still a market in rural China or somewhere.

Me or my brother never really had our own bike. My dad would buy a girls bike for my sisters because even though it was pink/purple he knew we'd still use it and he was right. :D

If you mean things that most other people had, we never had a VCR till about 99/00. Never had Sky either, and no plans to.

I always wanted a pair of Air Max with the bubble thing in the sole. I only ever had cheapo St. Bernard's runners that you could feel the ground through. I always imagined Air Max would be like walking on cushions.

They're grand, have had many a pair over the years, 2 pairs at the mo.

Adidas Boost are like walking on cushions, sometimes disconcertingly so

I never had free passage into the US over trivial things I was involved in donkeys years ago. It never really bothered me until the whole Conor Mc Gregor circus kicked into gear. All my mates were going over to Las vegas on the cheapish five night deals sunway were doing for the flights+hotel and the venue tickets were always acquired free from people in Dublin. Boys always have a ball. Hookers and coke et al, they always have a mad one. I'll watch UFC if nothing else is on but I think it's all staged. Nearly as bad as the wrestling but not quite there yet. Not my cup of tea, it's the sessions I'm missing out on. I'm in me mid/late 30s, marrying age, so one or two Vegas trips were stags of close mates, and I really shoulda been there. On the upside, my picture was never put in the Sunday World planting seeds in people's heads that might potentially/inevitably lead them to ponder on how Harry Bailey can afford to live it up in Las Vegas on his modest income :D
I also never got a tattoo in my life, and back to the age thing I think I'm the only one of my peers that hasn't been inked.

A Valentine card. Bloody good job I grew better with age.

I also have a wife which helps with the card situation!

    SNES
    Sony Playstation

I did have an N64 though, so can't complain.

I always wanted a baby born, and one of those doll heads that you could brush her hair and do her make up.

We went to Amsterdam when I was 10. We went to the Van Gogh museum and in the gift shop I really wanted this weird gold sun dial thing. I was fascinated by it and my mam wouldn't buy it for me. To this day I wish I had it!!

Never had the BBC channels growing up. Only Telefís Eireann, until I went to college.

Never had a leather jacket in my teens (late 80's/early 90's) either.

Took you 2 minutes to post that in response to the OP....

It’s like you were waiting for somebody to finally give you the opportunity to air this only recently rectified childhood trauma....
