Taking photos in the changing rooms really annoys me. It doesn't matter if they specifically frame it so that other people aren't seen. This is a changing room. It is the one place you should be guaranteed no one is going to photograph you. You should be able to be naked or expose the full horror of your body (in my case) without worrying that it might get immortalised on the internet.

You just reminded me of another one - a few weeks back some twat came in to the changing room whilst Face Timing his (I assume) girlfriend. When i asked him politely to turn it off as there were others in the changing room, he gave me the WTF Face and tutted before saying something like "I have to go I'm offending someone here" before turning it off.

    TWAT!!

This morning after I finished my session I went to shave after my shower. There was a young lad (18ish I'm guessing) in the sinks and bathroom area of the changing room with his top off taking pics of himself. He literally has no discernible muscle to photograph, he's so skinny he looks undernourished. I spent about 10minutes shaving (I butcher my face unless I'm very careful, it's a process!) and homeboy is still there posing and taking pics. I've seen him in the gym a few times, he's as skinny as a rake, one of those guys who normally spends more time on his phone than actually doing any exercise and congregates with his buddies hogging a machine for ages while the 2/3/4 of them burst out 3 sets each with 10minute intervals between sets and half talking to each other, half on the phone etc. - I'm sure you know the type.

So I finish shaving and return to my bag and he leaves the sink area to go to the locker beside mine. He then puts on a t shirt and heads into the gym. I for some reason had assumed he'd finished his session and was taking post work out pics, but no, this was before he did a thing.

Edit: I honestly don't know what he'd use these pics for. If you posted them on social media you'd be laughed at. Maybe in the way there's "feeders" who like fat lovers there's women who like the malnourished look?

Maybe it's for progress photos for himself for future reference to his starting point.

If he was ripped, it wouldn't make this any better.

People do take photos in changing rooms are twats. End of story.

    I dunno,
Its usually where the best lighting is, I know I look my swoliest (is that a word) in the changing room after a gym session.

I have been know to send the odd snapchat from the changing room....

I try and make sure the changing room is empty of other people first though.

Rejoined my local gym and already have seen somebody benching with a plate sandwich: One tiny plate in-between two big ones.

I would do this a fair bit when training with someone how either lifts a lot more than me or less than me .. can make it much easier to load / unload between each others sets.

He wouldn’t have been posing like he was or flexing like he was and most importantly doing it for as long as he was if that was his intention. I’m pretty sure I’m his own head he was looking at Mr. Olympia in the mirror, whereas the reality was he looked more like a model on a Trocaire box.

You had to be there. Plus as I said I’ve seen this guy a lot in the gym, I’ve yet to see him do anything near breaking a sweat.

Tough ****. Your desire to get a picture of yourself after a workout for some unfathomable reason doesn't trump other people's right to privacy. Almost all gyms will explicitly ban cameras from changing rooms.

But how are their Instagram followers gonna know they were in the gym then?

People shaving in the sinks in the gym, always seems to be one or two using the entire length of sink. hate having to go and wash hands after going to toilet as they always look offended that you have dared to ask them to move. Shave at home ffs.

Jeez, how many sinks does your gym have?

Mine has 12 (3 x rows of 4) in the gents changing room. I don't think I've ever recalled a situation where more than 4 would have been in use at any stage.

What's wrong with shaving in the gym (as long as you clean up after you)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Guy doing bicep curls on a Smith Machine yesterday. Was "interesting", esp. the movement in the rest of his body as he curled. Now I know there's a variation of these you can do that can justified, but what this guys was doing wasn't.....

    .

Just the two in mine, hence why its annoying. Nothing wrong with it but dont act all offended if i ask you to move so i can wash my hands, not gonna wait around for you to finish your shave🙄

I wouldn't act annoyed if there were just 2 and both were occupied - that's completely fair; but if there's 12 and 8+ are free.......then I think you know where you can go :pac:

Hate when instructors particularly in something like spin turn the volume ALL the way up and then procede to SCREAM questions and instructions at people who cannot hear them and hold the class up repeatedly trying to overscream the 1000% volume about handlebar height and knobs and injury clarifications. Turn the music down ffs and then back up after you finish your H&S spiel. Doing it that way won't help your courtcase.

Also instructors who dont bother correcting people who are obviously doing the exercises very wrong - like back damaging wrong. What is the point in having an instructor/professional in charge of 20 or 30 people instructing, if they don't bother themselves correcting people who are learning wrong or doing damage to themselves or adding no benefit by being there whatsoever?

Dosn't make any sense particularly when they also work as personal trainers. Why would I pay you for personal tuition when you are sloppy/lazy/unprofessional.

I was in the (practically empty) gym this morning, doing a superset of squats and bicep curls using the EZ bar. A bit strange maybe but I'm perfectly entitled to. I was four sets in when an American lad, having just watched me do a set, walked over and asked "are you using that" about the EZ bar. I just said "yes" and because of his tone didn't fell like reminding him that was another bar (albeit with slightly different angles) in the stand.
He walked away and grabbed some light dumbbells and do some curls of his own, about five feet behind me, pointedly staring at me and making sure I could see him staring at me during my rest. What was supposed to be a five set workout for me very quickly turned into eight!

    Annoying and potentially criminal

Someone but a lock on a locker with my stuff in it(forgot my own lock but as it was early in the morning I thought it'd be grand)

From the reaction of the staff member who cut it open so I could get my stuff out I don't think it was a harmless prank

Maybe they were trying to help you secure your belongings. Or they were p!ssed off having to look for a locker that didn't have someones stuff in it when they thought it was empty.

either way I'd to get the lock cut to get my stuff so it wasn't much help to me, there was maybe 20 or 30 empty lockers so.

if they were pissed then they either 1 had a spare lock to be a dick or 2 left their stuff in an unlocked locker in order to use their lock on mine

    Yes, very :D

Personally if I can't find a locker and I find one with stuff in it and unlocked I take the stuff out and leave it somewhere. If someone has that little regard for their belongings then they can't expect others to have.

I agree he was a bit of douche, but you being a bit of a douche back doesn't really help the situation doe sit?

Maybe you misread the whole situation and he fancied you, just expressed it awkwardly? ;):pac:

Nope, if there are lockers free then why would I care. Strangely this actually came up in the local gym at lunch time. A small very busy place in Dublin at lunch time. I walked into the changing room and there were 3 other lads looking at the lockers with just coats and small items thrown in. We all took the stuff out and put it on top.

It certainly didn't help his situation. Didn't make mine any worse whatsoever.

Looking for an empty locker the other day, I opened one thinking it was empty. No. Some guy had left his gear, and a bank card there, unlocked. Anyone could have taken it.

As stupid as those who don't lock their bikes and then get them stolen

    People holding on machines.
This was a few weeks ago. I was doing chest press and was waiting on the leg press to be free. I finish my set, the leg press machine was still taken so I went over to do something else. Leg press gets free and this girl comes from somewhere, leaves her bag on the leg press and goes back to whatever she was doing. Not only that , she still went on to do some other machine while holding the leg press....

I would have probably just lifted the bag off and used it, and if she came back would have offered to let her work in.
