Using Twitter to contact old friends

    Hello,

I need to make contact with a couple of that I've lost touch with. They live abroad and I've lost the email addresses and phone numbers.

I thought the best way might be on Twitter but I don't have any use for social media (boards.ie is as far as I go with it) beyond sending messages for them to contact me.

Can a Twitter account be deleted? Or is it like Facebook and cannot be removed?

Does signing up to Twitter require my mobile number?

I only know one person who uses it and they do so very rarely. I've asked several times if they could send the messages for me but it never gets done.

What I really want to know is just how invasive is Twitter?

Does it record my location and IP address? If I use a specially created email for signing up will my computer still get spam on my real email account?

    That kind of thing.

Probably Facebook is better, if you have an account.
If they are on Twitter then I suppose you can try that.

Yes, a Twiiter account can be deleted.

No Facebook account - as I said I don't do any social media. I asked about twitter because I wa told before Facebook cannot be deleted.

Anyway, it is all for nothing. I was told earlier that twitter does actually need a phone number and I'm not willing to submit details like that.

I'll find another way to make contact, but thank you for the input. ;)
