You mean alice-band-wearing solid citizen Gareth Bale!?

I'd worry Bales ponytail might upset DDG, maybe he'd be jealous of another ponytailed player? The hairstyle is key when looking at a signing tbf.

I specifically stated that not all alice band wearers are an issue.

But conveniantly jump on that and ignore Griezmann’s racist behaviour.

Then why bring up Alice bands at all? Strange point to make.

The comparison with Di Maria is odd as well, I don't really understand the connection.

I wasn't aware of Griezmann's racist behaviour tbh.

Martial breaks my heart. Despite the posts about his rankings in years gone by, I find he's useless on the counter, useless defensively....he slows down play, needs the ball played to his feet and insists on running at defenders. He might thrive, obviously, in a team set up to play to that strength but he's not at a team that can do that right now.

Is this a really bad case of he's dumping us but we didn't really like him anyway ?

We've seen him perform to a high level at the club amd any criticism leveled at him could be attributed to many a player in the current squad. Calling him poor defensively is lazy and reminds me of the Nani criticism which was equally lazy.

I don't even think Ronaldo has ever wore an Alice band his hair is so perfect it does what it's told.

I guess he doesn't mean bale or De Gea or firminho..... Actually I'm struggling to think of an Alice band footballer that I wouldn't want in my team.

Even the self promoting Alice band wearing David Beckham of love in my team.

Fernando Torres was brilliant until he got rid of his locks and alice band.

    Who the fuk is Alice?

Crazy stat here but do you know off hand how many goals he has scored in 28 games against the other top six sides?

2 goals is what he has scored and one of them was on his debut.

I love martial and think he is going to be a top class footballer but he is limited and he also happens to be behind Sanchez and fighting with Rashford for backup games on the left so it only makes sense if he is sacrificed for a right winger.

I'm not sure I get the whole di Maria thing either. Do Maria was ****ed over by the manager and he wasn't happy he left I fully believe if he had of been here under Jose he would of still been here.

I think he is a special player that's achieved an awful lot in the game.

Some people lose the ability to think objectively about the common sense reasons a player might want to leave.

Won the CL and almost dragged Argentina to the World cup and was the 3rd best player in the world the summer we signed him.

Why on earth would you sit on the bench for LVG who quite clearly didn't have a clue.

If Fellaini and Martial leave then Carvalho and Dost would also be fine pick ups. You'd wonder if they would want to be 2nd choice though at this stage in their careers.

Id be all for Martins and Carvalho. Serious steal for any top side on frees. Could alternate between Matic and Big William before he eventually takes over next season as 1st choice

I'm sure that stat could be picked apart, Lukaku was being beaten with the same stick a few months ago.

I think he's a complete forward and while he's disappointed at times he has also been dicked around by the club. I understand the argument of replacing him with a quality right winger but I'm not getting the put downs he's arguably the most lethal finisher in the squad.

Well thats just hyperbole. On a scale of being "dicked around" Martial's treatment is up there with the least of them.

22 year old given 136 appearances in only 3 seasons at one of the worlds biggest clubs? Lets be honest, the single biggest reason Martial is not an automatic first team choice is Martial himself.

And its nothing to do with Sanchez.

Not sure about that, supposedly Lopetegui has mixed feelings about him and prefers Isco in the team ahead of him

Few of bales best performances will change his mind quick enough.

I don’t mind martial staying or going. If he goes to a club he will get a guaranteed start then he will do well and good luck to him. If he is staying then his consistency and performances need to improve. As far as I am concerned He can’t hide behind “it’s Jose’s fault” like some fans do with Pogba. Either he performs well or he will continue being a squad player.

I don’t get how quickly some people are to defend under performing players. We know the likes of Martial and Pogba can be class but their application and attitude is highly questionable. Martial, being younger and relatively unproven at this level can be forgiven.

If his agent is talking about moving to get more money Just pay up. If he’s looking to move to demand a spot or just move then sell him. Players need to prove it on the pitch that they deserve to start, contract negotiations don’t equate to working hard for a starring role.

And anyways, he’s stuck at the club for another two seasons so he can’t really be demanding anything at this stage. But again, if he wants to move and we can get the right money I’m ok with that. I do think he will be quality but I’m not convinced being held to randsom by a squad player who is yet to make any position his, is the best move.

Yeah since Sanchez arrived Martial has had more ineffective starts than his highly effective brief cameo's at the start of the season.

Have you a source for that?

Anyway, what is Sanchez doing (for about 4 times the salary) to justify his status as a first team player?

Julen Lopetegui on Bale in 2015, "A player at Real Madrid has to give 100% all the time. If he doesn't then he might as well leave. La Liga is totally different to the Premier League. A player like that wouldn't get into my team." Doesn't sound good for the Welshman.

I still think theres a strong possibility he'll stay and take a chance under a new manager. The main issue again will be the likelihood of Isco being favoured ahead of him

Sanchez only signed in January and has been clearly working hard in matches without getting the performances yet to reflect that. I'd expect him to have a far bigger impact next season. He also has a history of being a great performer and has earned some trust based on that and his obvious work rate and application. That trust will clearly only last a certain amount of time so you can be sure if he keeps under performing next season he will be put out of the team but it's only fair that he gets a reasonable amount of time to bed in.

While I like Martial, he's been at the club 3 years now and has looked disinterested on numerous occasions and has been inconsistent throughout. And while that's expected with younger players, it's up to him to make the case for starting with consistent performances and by working hard at the very least. At the moment we're too dependent on him being in the mood. He hasn't earned or built up the trust yet that Sanchez is getting.

Not true at all, it has a lot to do with Sanchez.

Go look at the stats. Look at the games started and minutes played pre and post Sanchez arrival, they simply don't match the narrative that Sanchez put Martial out of the team.

Then also look at the fact that Martials inconsistent performances are perfectly consistent with the 2.5 years he spent at the club before Sanchez ever walked in the door.

Sanchez is just the latest excuse in a long line of excuses.

Do people think we'll see Lindelof starting games this coming season?

There's something about him that I like when I watch him play. He made a few mistakes last season, which is understandable coming for Portugal (I think) and into a top premier league team, but I think he can do really well for United at CB.

Same with Bailly, really. He's a unit. Frankly, if I could just keep Chris Smalling and Phil Jones away from the team.

I think the backline chopped and changed so much last season that it would be nice to see it settled. Dalot being eased into RB to replace Valencia can't come quick enough, either. He's one injury away from United being in a defensive crisis.

It’s not a strong solid character who “blacks up” for a fancy dress party. That’s the behaviour of an idiot with a questionable moral compass.

Way OT but unless you're doing it to belittle or enforce a black stereotype I don't see a problem. Well maybe if you live in America with the whole gollywog and slave issues, including civil right stuff still ongoing.
I've had a friend go to a party as BA Baracus cause he's one of his favourite characters from a TV show. Can't see how that in itself is racist. No one seemed to take issue either. No worse than going dressed as a woman is not sexist.

What top club could Martial even be a consistent starter for?

I cant see us selling to an English team, he wouldn't start for Barca, Real, PSG. So who would that leave? Maybe Bayern but I could see him getting similar minutes as he does here prob even less. That pretty much leaves Juve, everything else would be a step down. Is there anyone else that could even afford him? I reckon he'll stay at least another season.
