Have you ever bullied or mistreated someone at work?

Real bullies are sadistic and unrepentant and never see themselves as the problem but have you ever regretted the way you spoke to or treated someone in work be it a boss a fellow worker or subordinate? Something which you may regret in hindsight?

Absolutely not.

I was bullied terribly as a child (hey I'm a red head). I detest bullies, absolutely hate them.

I can honestly say, hand on heart that I've never bullied someone or even regretted how I treated someone.

Yes. I treat everyone the same way as I would like to be treated. You cross that line and I will make life hell.

I would not comment on clothes/looks etc, as that is just being a prick, but I would treat them different.

I have had subordinates try the same. Thinking they can bully me into doing something.

None of them work with us now...

Nah, bullies are cowards, no matter where, who or what age they are. I have no time for cowards, and I'd like to think that if I were to ever witness someone being bullied at work or otherwise, I'd do something about it.

there seems to be an assumption that a bully is always a coward. I wonder if it is true. are there any brave bullies?

If there were it'd be some kinda crazy paradox that would rip open the space-time continuum, causing the complete destruction of the entire universe. The two are mutually exclusive, no two ways about it.

Yeah I have regrets over how I've treated people before. I lose sleep over them quite a bit, but no amount of penance keeps the guilt at bay.

Where I work you need to do what some would regard as bullying as part of the training. I am tame compared to what a new person can expect from customers.

If they cannot handle it, they are in the wrong job.

I'm early 30s now, and the truth is I was actually a ****ty person to a neighbour when we were both 13 or 14. It never occurred to me at the time that it was bullying, but it was. I participated in making an odd boy feeling bad about himself.

It was awful. It was wrong. I have had many many nights thinking about it. I suppose I've lived and learned. I'm now actually a staunch defender of those that are "different". I routinely regret my teenage selfs actions, but li
ve a much better life now.

A lad refused to do work. I needed the info. He worked for someone else.
In a chat I offered him a choice.
Would I go up the chain of command until getting to someone who could go down the chain of command to his boss?
The lad might call that bullying.
