Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And so the battle begins for the lowest team ID :P

I had 392 last year which I'm both proud and embarrassed of.

    If I don't get a team ID 69 or 6969 or 696969 etc I'm not playing.

Mahrez looks like he is off to City as per the BBC.

If we thought Peps wheel of rotation was bad this season....

    Apparently first weekend fixtures are

    Fulham v Newcastle
    Leicster v Watford
    Wolves v Chelsea
    Arsenal v Brighton
    Man city v everton
    Burnley v spurs
    Liverpool v west ham
    Bournemouth v Cardiff
    Huddersfield v palace
    Southampton v man utd

Not fantastic for a GW1 BB and early WC

Yeah, but you have carried forward a few BBs from previous seasons, right?

Leicester have signed Jonny Evans. They also signed Ricardo Pereira from Porto earlier in the window.

A game week in February 2020 will be staggered over two weekends to give every team a weekend off.
    https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44414487

Heartache as my 2nd weekend players pick up injuries and I've no chance to change them.
Or perhaps heartache as despite an extra week to get injured and allow a highscoring bench player to sub in they all remain annoyingly healthy.

    But heartache definitely.

Pretty sure it'll be split into two different gameweeks. Will take a good bit of planning ahead

I would imagine it'll just be one. Making it two would almost be making it a 39 Gameweek season.

You just know we're going to end up with two great captain options and they play on different weekends just to make the pain last even longer those weeks!

    Fixtures out tomorrow!

Remember this time last year when Southampton players looked essential due to their start :pac:

I think I even went with 3 of them in my team at the beginning

    Wolverhampton v Everton

    FF Scout:

Southampton and Everton assets might be among those to consider in the opening months of the season: they are the only two clubs not to play any of last season’s top six sides in the first five Gameweeks.

    Not this again. :pac:

City and Liverpool look worth loading up on at the start.

City: ars, HUD, wlv, NEW, FUL, car, BRI

Liverpool: WHU, cpl, BRI, lei, tot, SOU

If someone can point me towards an Excel version of the fixtures I can have a go at creating a squad planner like the infamous/amazing/horrifying one I did for DGW planning towards the end of last season.

Have changed jobs recently so slightly less time for faffing about with FPL :-)

Found a workable fixture list format just now - will tip away at it over the next couple of days and post up here when it's finished.
Any favoured abbreviations for the promoted teams? I'm going with WOL, CAR and FUL for the minute

I work there if anyone wants any info on the jobs we have available.

A data collection agent does nothing that would make you a better fantasy football player, just an fyi

You're a real life Moneyballer!? I'm actually a statistician myself in a very different sector but thought it was worth giving the heads up on here, might be a few interested. These are obviously data collection roles, not really analysis roles.

Yup - guy that founded Stats was the Moneyball guy himself! All started in Baseball.

They are good roles for students or people only lookin for part time work really.

As promised, here's the latest headwrecker/squad planning sheet.

I've put a column in for player value - at the minute this will be manual but I'll have a look at automating something if I get time and, more importantly, access to a player database.

I've added the European games as well which might be useful I think - not 100% sure if I've got them in between the right gameweeks so let me know if there's anything incorrect and I'll update.

Just to note as well - as with the previous sheet, the 3 letter team name (ARS, CHE etc) is the main driver for the formulas so player name isn't critical at the minute so you can fire away with KDB, Bavies etc. This might change if I manage to get my hands on the pricing information.

A few days either side of the World Cup final I reckon. So anywhere between 13-17 July I'd say.

Do we have dates it's gone live in years of a major tourney? I seem to recall they normally wait until after.

The start dates since 2006 are available on Fiso.

Has there much more chatter about the likes of Salah being classified as a forward next season? I only ask as everytime I listened to the English media during the world cup, they spoke of him as if he was a centre forward, which obviously he's not. It would turn the game upside down if they start classing wide forwards or high wingers as forward options in the game. Especially if Salah became one while others weren't reclassified.

Be wary of throwing Kane in at the start if england go far. Also he doesn’t score in August lol...

I think it could be the opposite. I reckon the further England go in the World Cup the more likely it is for Kane to score in August.

He clearly takes his time in getting up to speed after the summer break, but with no real break in this summer compared to others, he could already be up to speed come the start of the season.

Of course, come the end of the season he could become more fatigued, but that's the case with most of the World Cup players that will play in the latter stages.
