on bill pay with Vodafone, get new phone PAYG ph and swop sim

I'm a Vodafone bill pay customer and cannot get an upgrade on my current plan, which I do not want to change, The last 2 phones I got I bought a PAYG phone and just swopped out the SIM and was good to go.

So was looking to buy this phone and the guy in Carphone Warehouse said A) they dont have it in store, online only, and

in any case I'd have to buy a PAYG sim at an extra cost. Now, just to say this I'm not here to bash CW, I've been very happy with them in the past.

So looking on line, it's E139 on Eir and E159 on Vodafone, then I have to pay an additional E20 to buy PAYG credit which I don't need.

If I got an Eir phone, how can I change it to use my Vodafone sim, would rooting it do it?

Any other suggestions? I want Android 8 so if anyone can suggest something else under E150 all in?

Deal directly with Vodafone. Walk into a shop walk out with the phone. I'm sure if you explain what you want they'll sell you the phone straight.

They don't have anything with Android 8 in my price range.

That's the 2017 version, OP is looking at the 2018 one.

Thanks d31b0y with shipping the cost will be about 165. I'll think about it. In the meantime I fired off an email to CW asking if I can buy without the credit.
