Why the hell hasn't anybody mentioned Breaking Bad yet? I hope it's either because it's not on Netflix anymore or everyone has already seen it?

It's the greatest TV show of all time. 2 other shows in the top 5 are Spartacus and Sons of Anarchy*. Although I wouldn't watch Spartacus with your mammy** or anything.

    *Apart from the Belfast season

**Unless your mammy likes seriously insane amounts of sex, violence and bad language

You do understand the concept behind the term "hidden gem" ....... right?

Breaking Bad, Spartacus and Sons of Anarchy are NOT hidden gems .......

    Class season 1 (bbc)
A teacher and a handful of her students are tasked with defending their school from perils that threaten to invade through tears in time and space.

    And Mad Men is?

I would call Spartacus a hidden gem BTW. Very few people I mention it to have heard of it never mind seen it.

    Hidden gem?

El marginal. This Argentinian prison drama slipped under the radar when it came out a few years ago. It’s still there and it is very good. 9/10

Stand up comedy Ali Wong has two shows on it. Both are great. Watch the first one first.

A funny female comedian would you believe.

Watched it, thought it was good if a little contrived at times, probably worth a watch.

    That's what hidden gem means.

Something that's really great that nobodys heard about.

    'November 13: Attack on Paris'.

Played it expecting to be turning off after a few minutes because of it being a mish-mash of cuts from different news feeds and a cobbled together recount of the events.

But it was so much more than that. Each event was humanised...relived through the eyes of people who had lived through the events at the different scenes.

Thoroughly engaging. It's only 3 episodes about 50 mins long but definitely worth a watch.

    I know.

Which is why I said that Spartacus fits the bill.

I mentioned BB and Sons because they are great shows and with the numerous mentions of Mad Men I figured we had moved beyond the "hidden" bit.

Just finished it and I would also highly recommend it. Such a difference than watching it unfold on Sky news to actually hearing people's stories

Here's one that will get a few peoples heckles up.

The second season of Fauda is out now.

If you watched 'Homeland', well this is the Israeli show which it was adapted from, and its about an Israeli Mossad unit hunting Palestinian terrorists.

Its been topping the TV ratings in both Israel and the Palestinian territories since its launch.

    Well worth a watch.

I found it harrowing, and turned away just as they reached the Bataclan.
    Will finish it, though.

I watched, it's good. Like another poster said it's a little Hollywood ..."I haven't seen this guy since rehearsals!" ... but it's entertaining.

I’m also at this stage now and am the same
It’s the first documentary ever to bring me to tears . More than once .
I didn’t understand the scale of the attack before now tbh.
And the impact on all caught up in it.

It’s a tough tough watch but I’d recommend everyone to do so

I was the same. I don't think I really comprehended the scale of it at the time. And in a time where we've had several terrorist attacks, you sort of become immune to the humanity behind the details.

The cafe owner who lost his wife in the attack at his cafe...that really got me.

And I can see how someone might find it too harrowing but having finished it, it's important to remember the humanity behind these attacks.

Well of the Netflix ones anyway. I do like his earlier stuff though.

Tried watching that Adam Sandler film on Saturday night lasted five minutes before it was turned off it's was horrific I don't usually mind some of his films if I'm in the right mood but the week off was painfully bad.

Ended up watching Imperial Dreams turned it on to see John Boyega in something different and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lasted fifteen minutes of that Ibiza film before turning it off. Absolute muck.

The Wailing - delightfully zany, all-in K-horror from the chap behind The Chaser. It's long but worth it - a tale of mysterious demonic possessions that's part police procedural, part straight horror, part Evil Dead esque splatter comedy. There's a tremendous scene in this which I can only describe as duelling exorcisms, and it is just great.

Outside In - Lynn Shelton is a hit-and-miss director, her films so light and unassuming they can be either pleasantly understated or barely there. Thankfully this one fits into the former category, mostly thanks to two excellent central performances from Jay Duplass (usually the weaker actor of the two Duplass brothers) and Edie Falco. The former plays a 30-something released from jail after two decades; the latter the teacher who became his closest confidant during prison. Naturally, both of their efforts to readjust to their new life prove challenging. It's small, modest and quiet... but this is a powerful little character drama that feels impressively honest and credible.

We watched The New Guy tonight. We wanted mindless silly comedy, the type of thing to watch while hungover and eating your weight in junk. It delivered. It's an oldie and cliched but we both enjoyed it. Would recommend!

Another vote for "The Edge of Seventeen", very enjoyable film that everyone can relate to their teen years in some way.
