OOC : Correct, you're at a doorway on the western wall, that wall extends roughly equal distances in both directions. The arch is to the south.

As Brutha steps into the room, he notices a second doorway in the western wall, closer to the archway, and signals to 9 Lives.

The figure in the centre of the room mimes dropping a coin, then his whole body follows, twisting to land on his back, spin and bounce back up on his feet. As he lands, his eyes lock on Brutha. Brutha freezes, his eyes going wide and his toe beginning to tap. A wave begins to move through him starting with his left hand and reaching his shoulders - he shakes his head and bellows "By the grace of Om, NO!", striking the ground with his fists.

The figure drops to the floor, then raises up on one arm, as if sitting upside down on an invisible chair. He is now facing the west wall.

OOC : for full transparency, Brutha just passed a save vs Spells. Remember, he's currently being treated as a retainer, and will not move independently unless in self-preservation.

9lives motions to Brutha to follow him and the pair make a break for the archway

OOC : You're in the room with the statue with Webby and Lalwende.

    Echtrae and Fector fell through.

OOC : 9 Lives, save vs. spells :

    #d20+4
Target for you is 14 or higher. Note, the +4 is specific to the situation, and not something coming from your modifiers. Wisdom mod would apply here, but you don't have one.

As 9Lives and Brutha break for the archway, the figure begins to spin on his head rapidly, his eyes meeting's 9 Lives' on every pass. He feels his heart beat in his chest, but it's different... irregular... and it fills his whole body, his head, his hands.... He begins chanting "wikki wikki wakka wikki wikki wikki wakka" and running on the spot with his hands thrust out before him. The moment passes - he exchanges a glance with Brutha who appeared to be trying to catch an invisible mouse who was inside his armour for a few seconds, but has now returned to normal.

OOC : Both passed their saves.

    "...Run?" Brutha suggests.

They break for the archway. Behind them, the figure inches along in their wake, spinning, spinning, but far to slow to give serious chase or create any real sense of tension.

Beyond the archway is an unlit passageway, stone-floored rather than mossy like the room they left.

Scanning for traps but probably not as thoroughly as he would otherwise, 9lives heads down the corridor with Burtha in lockstep
We've got to put some distance between ourselves and whatever that was. I felt all strange, it was like I was drawn to... throw shapes? but I've never even heard of that term beforehand, he must be some kind of spellcaster!

It doesn't take more than a few feet before the residual glow of the moss behind them stops cutting through the darkness. With nothing for light but the scant luminescence of the moss on the end of 9 Lives' arrow, they inch forward, Brutha leading the way. It's slow, nervous going but they make a steady pace until after about 70 or 80 feet Brutha's hand brush a wall. It's a dead end.

Dammit, 9 lives looks for anything that could be a switch or a latch to a hidden door
We might need to deal with this gyrating Djinn afterall!

Neither 9Lives nor Brutha finds any sign of secret machinery

We work our way back out of the corridor and towards the main room again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,315 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Stu marvels at Webby hanging on for dear life, then offers to help him down but cant quite reach him. "How you doing up there webby, can you straighten your legs, I might be able to reach you"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 468 ✭✭Nebelwerfer

Webby, arms tired as his comrades left him hanging overnight, is delighted to see Stu offering assistance.

"Good man Stu! I'll stretch whatever you need me to, just get me down from here".

Webby tries to make best out of a bad situatiin and works with Stu to get down.

Stu having a couple of inches on Echtrae, it's relatively simple for Webby to drop down from his perch.

    The arrow, alas, stays put.

Moving back towards the better-lit room is quicker going for the pair, but the dancing figure is no slouch - he's been moving too. Even as you watch he progresses towards the arch in a series of Cossack drops, then stands there swaying from foot to foot, clapping and uttering "one time". His tone betrays nothing of whether this is a greeting, a challenge, a warning.

Ooc : when you're ready to enter, roll a save Vs spell. Penalty -4

"No joy here Fector. Come, let's try the southern door"

Echtrae attempts to open the other door.

OOC : That is a fail unfortunately. Brutha also failed. This could get... interesting. So, here's the deal. The doorway you arrived via is about 60 feet away. that's going to take you an average of 4 rounds depending on how your rolls go to get to. The other doorway is about 2 or 3 rounds away. You will need to pass the Dancer to get to either of them. Now, by all means tell me what you're planning to do, but I also need you to roll a D8 and a D20. (I'll apply the necessary modifiers to the D20 for you - there are a couple) This will give me an idea of how you do it :D

9 Lives looks at Brutha. Brutha looks at 9 Lives. Both of them have their arms crossed over their torsos, with fingers akimbo making arcane signs. Both are hearing that incessant beat and call to the floor. They nod a strong affirmation at each-other and launch themselves into the dance.

    <Autopilot : Fector>

Fector brandishes a crowbar at Echtrae.

"Maybe I should try my 'key'?"

The door south does not appear to be locked.

OOC : Up to you if you want to proceed as a pair or try to open the door north to reunite with the other 3 first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,351 ✭✭✭Guffy

"Well aren't you full of suprises my good man. I wouldnt be able to carry that let alone open a door with it. Ok lets try the locked door, locked doors generally mean booty"

Echtrae motions Fector back to the locked door.

You know how this is gonna go

We're gonna try to get to the other door (not the one we entered through)
Locking eyes with brutha shoulders start to ungulate and we begin to throw down

9Lives drops to the floor, one leg extended and swinging around mace like while the rest of his body skips over it with hard shoves from his hands - he makes excellent progress towards the unopened door in the western wall. Passing the Dancer - still popping a top-rock - he's met with a pleading look of desperation. 9Lives notices that the man doesn't have dreadlocks - there's something on his head, a kind of bulbous metallic looking hat, 4 pairs of red jewels inlaid on the front.

Brutha notices none of this - he leaps into the room, attempting to spin on his back but lands awkwardly, bruising a shoulder.
    -2HP

Passing the dancer, 9 Lives leaps to his feet into a running man, locks eyes with the Dancer and begins to Batussi. As the Dancer falls into step with him, the thief pirouettes, comes out of the spin at a run and heads for the wall - 3 steps up the wall he flips, sailing over the head of the dancer and grabbing his hat by 2 of its metallic dreads. They snap off in his hands and the hat lets out a screech.

9Lives lands, one leg extended, one bent with his arms north and south holding 2 of the creatures spindly prosbisci.

Brutha, who had just kicked himself in the balls trying to perform the Coffee-Grinder move that had seen 9-Lives traverse so much of the room earlier, abruptly stops dancing. The beat has stopped.

The dancer collapses to his knees as the spider-like creature on his head disengages it's remaining legs and scuttles off into the shadows, a trail of black ichor leaking out behind it. He mutters a brief "cheers!" before collapsing from the strain.

9lives checks the dancer to see if he is alive
    "What was that thing?"

Echtrae motions Fector back to the locked door.

Fector jams his crowbar into the jamb of the door and heaves. Some wood splinters but the door does not give way.

Echtrae can add his weight to the bar if you want - roll a d6 on

With Echtrae's help, the lock gives and the door swings open.

On the other side is the room with the Troll statue. Stu appears to be giving Webby a piggy back.

Echtrae takes in the comical sight,

"well that didn't take long, did it? Come there is an unlocked door through here." He waves the rest of their party over to the passage.

The dancer appears to be dead, and so does not answer.

In his pocket you find 10GP, and hanging from the back of the rope he used as a belt is a peaked cap with a strange logo on it.

    Probably Osinziri....
