So Larry White being possibly lined up as a fallback manager - why does everything we do have to be so drawn out it really is quite tedious.

I'd prefer if we kept Conte regardless but we do have to sh*t or get off the pot with the Conte/Sarri situation.

The transfer window is open and there isnt a hint of a move happening, in or out of the club, I suppose they're waiting on the potential managerial change before approaching targets but we have to get the wheels in motion ASAP.

I have to say I am starting to wonder is Maria part of the problem rather than part of the solution?

And contrast this with the top 4 clubs who are starting to sign players to bring them on a level from this year. If this goes on for much longer, we'll struggle again next year and will be outside of the top 4.

Theres no way she'll be going anywhere anyway, shes Romans go to person seemingly.

I reckon if we dont hear anything about Sarri by this time next week, Conte will be here next year.

Its been reported by Simon Phillips on twitter that Sarri has met Chelsea and terms were sorted and potential players discussed and that its being held up on Napolis side.

    Time will tell.

Ya, its a very short window due to the WC and it closing on August 6th or 9th.

If we dont start making moves soon, we'll be left seriously behind.

I think this current squad is still good enough for top 4 considering we barely missed out this season but we do have to add better quality, not quantity this time around.

I don't think it is tbh, City top, Utd will be closer next year with a couple of hundred mil spent, Pool won't be as inconsistent next year and have already signed well, comfortable third. Spurs squad vs ours is close, if they have a fit Kane all next year they'll beat us to 4th without some decent signings.

Well if the season started tomorrow, I'd fancy us for at least 4th but it would be a 3 way fight with Spurs and Arsenal.

I think the EL could be vital for us this year as sad as that sounds, I do think we should go all out to win it anyway but in the early rounds, play the best youth prospects and bench and see how we get on, they should have enough about them to get through the group stages, hold back he seniors for the league and latter stages of the EL.

I don't think Arsenal are ready to be back in the bracket for 4th tbh but agree on the rest. EL groups should be used as a momentum builder and rotate. After that it's a european knockout comp and potentially an easier CL route for us than 4th.

I hope we go after Bailey, I've been harping on about him for awhile now so it would be nice to get it done and have a future world beater on the right side.

I was hot on Bailey too, but he had an absolute stinker in the second half of the season. The money they want is insane too, it would get you an established player.

We seriously need a CM. Drinkwater is gone, Baka should be kept, Cesc is on his last legs. Kante is the only one who is good enough to start every game. Jorginho and Fabinho were 2 good targets that we appear to have missed out on.

That leaves the likes of Sarri, Savic (can't spell the start of his name) from Lazio and not much else.

Liverpool are really pushing on it has to be said.

I really hope there is truth to interest in Icardi too. I like Morata but I don't think he wants to be here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,267 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

I think if Morata settles, he'll be brilliant.

    I'd love Icardi too though.

If Sarri does come in its going to be a return to 4-3-3 which is a better fit for us IMO.

I still think we should go for Bailey because if he doesnt go this summer, hes going to end up at a super club next year so getting it done this year is important.

I dont think well see any players come or go until the manager situation is dealt with, unfortunately, hopefully its not too late to get decent players by then.

i know its the daily mail, but they have potential deals set up, just waiting fot the manager to approve (that's never stopped them before)

Current rumours - €100m for Icardi. talks expected to commence with Martial. Both interesting.

Martial would be a brilliant signing provided he gets a run of games. Huge talent.

If United were to sell Martial I can see them hardballing us should we make an approach

Sure we were easy to deal with when it came to Matic but I can't see them returning the favour

Can we have the Willian for Martial swap arguement again :o

Be raging if that happened. Martial still needs time even if he has been infuriating this season at times.

Lots of players needed more time with Jose and didn't get it, potential signings like Arnautovic or Bale will push him out the door for sure if he's not already out

Tbf MArtial and Rashford have been given plenty of time on the pitch but have shown there inexperience.

I do rate Willian but with his current age it's only short term.

So rags reporting today TBo has decided his future lies elsewhere, if so best get shot quickly for as much as possible and move on. He is a very good 'keeper though I am not so sure he is as good as he thinks he is.

    Lamps confirmed as Derby boss.

    I always liked Derby. :pac:

I'd expect he'll be knocking on the door for a loan or two from Chelsea, I'd send Mason Mount there see how he gets on in the Championship for a team that should be pushing for promotion, Lamps could be a huge influence on the lad too.

Ya, I think he'll come back and look for one or two players alright.

Be good experience for some of them.
