Reflective glass that's opaque/obscure?

    Is there such a thing as mirror-reflective glass that is opaque on the viewer side?

    e.g. From outside looking in you see mirror reflection... looking out from inside, view is obscured by opaque glass so just light coming through

    Why not just get frosted glass?

    I could see a large mirrored area being a potential problem on a bright day depending on where it was.

    Opaque does not allow light through. Frosted glass would allow diffuse light through (in both directions).

    I'm just trying to find out for someone else... is there such a thing?

    From my understanding you can only get:

    - Mirrored glass that you can see clearly through from other side

    OR

    - Frosted/opaque glass that looks identical both sides


    Am I right?

    Could they not do a type of double glazing with one of each?

    So it would need to be a specially made window is that right?

    i.e. reflective one side and frosted on the other is not something you can typically buy off the shelf?

    A large reflective exterior surface might be a problem if reflected sunlight might cause an annoyance or hazard.

    Yes there is ‘such a thing’, just ring a glazing manufacturer and agree the specification, expect s hefty premium. mirrored glass won’t be necessary it inside is opaque
