They can't change the vote but they will do all they can to make women having abortions and those providing it suffer.

And they'll be doing it out of love right?

It’s bloody hilarious seeing the likes of Cora Sherlock and Katie Ascough trying to criticize the Yes side for “misinformation”.
Ascough somehow trying to spin this as a win for the No side.

I'd love to have hidden camera footage of the immediate reactions to the main players in referendums. I've little interest in the polished views from the likes of her 12 hours after the game is up.

This lad giving tallies on Marian's show is taking his time. I agree with Marian to hurry up to ****.

I was just in the local post office, and overheard some older women, one in her 60's and one late 50's talking. It's a small post office, I didn't have my headphones, so wasn't intentionally ear wigging.

They were mortified that the local priest at Mass last night told people, from the pulpit, that anyone who voted Yes were unwelcome for communion, and when it came time for communion, he asked them individually what way they voted, and refused them if they said Yes.

So Love Both, except if I disagree with you, then it's Damn Your Eternal Soul.

Our landslide vote has given two fingers to this kind of pontificating and preaching. The sweet fcuking relief that tolerance to **** like this is rapidly becoming a thing of the past.
The absolute brass neck of the church to think they are in any position to moralise about choice when they had such an inherent disregard for living breathing children when they buried them in cesspits in their droves. And the ones they didn’t bury they raped.

Katie Ascough on RTE saying the Yes side should be held accountable for what they said during the referendum.

Does she really think she'd come out of it well if both sides had to back up claims Made? Its a wonder her face doesn't turn inside out trying to keep it straight.

Okay, let us be held accountable for all the true things we said, gladly.

Winning hearts and minds. You'd swear the church were full on Sundays and in a position to be choosey about who the let in.

Lots of TDs will have to look at themselves now, many Fianna Fáil members, Healy-Raes, Mattie McGrath as they have been shown to be totally out of touch with the electorate. Not just nationally but also in their own constituencies.

Anne rabitte of FF who to be fair came on a journey during the 8th committee from a position of no abortions in any circumstances to vote in certain circumstances.

Don't worry about Ascough, Iona "institute" is a private company run by her family to sell conservative snake oil and a few others who really speak for no one but themselves. UCD SU put her out on her ar5e when she tried to take over the agenda for those ends.

Her and them and their ultracon american donors need to find a new reason to carry on today and the totems on their side are scarce enough.

The young people in the country are marvellous, we should be proud of them. Given the directions many others have taken Ireland’s young people have once again led the way

Something really peculiar and disturbing about a mindset like that.

I'm afraid they're so far down that rabbit hole there's no hope for them. Its like they're immune to the idea that reality affects them.
I fully expect them to use their influence and lobby lobby lobby to influence the composition of the legislation, and their mouthpieces in Dail Eireann to obstruct as best they can.

The beauty is that both sides really won.*

People can be get an abortion if they need to and No voters can not get one if they're against them. That's pretty much the crux of my argument when I decided how to vote.

    * Unless No voters consider telling people what they can and can't do the real victory... surely not.

Over half of No voters (according to RTE’s exit poll) strongly disagreed with abortion between 12-24 weeks when there was a serious risk to the mother’s life.

What was even more shocking was that close on 70% of no voters would not support abortion in any circumstances. Hard line moral guardians eh.

And I find it amusing that savethe8th spokesman pontificating about the fair campaign giving the utter shoite they were printing in the papers as adverts.

Its a clear mandate from the people. How out of touch are politicians with their own electorate though.

I find it so hard to listen to what Ruth Coppinger is actually saying when everything she says sounds like a question.

People speaking with an inflection at the end of every sentence really grates on me.

    Sorry, back on topic. Victory!

I think the full time politicians, eg Mary Butler just on, is very reasonable in how she will vote now. She says she has moved on the FFA, Rape and Incest.
I don't think there will be many absolute NOs among the TDs. Mattie and the Raes won't have many compatriots.

I think you will find a lot “older” people voted yes. I’m in my mid to late forties, voted yes as did most of my peers.

The truth is that people listened to the debate, the stories, saw through the lies and sought out information themselves.

Also many people have been personally affected or know somebody personally affected by Ireland’s restrictive abortion laws.

The country has changed hugely in the last 30 years, leaving the shackles of the church behind and allowing citizens decide their own destiny regarding sexuality, marriage, family planning and preganancy.

We’re finally becoming a true republic.

They can't maintain hard lines. Ideally they wanted it to be a very close result either way so they can court both sides but a landslide yes means they have to eat a lot of their own ****.
