Maria steen - we need to help and support woman with mental health issues....

These two showing there true colours tonight the masks have well and truly slipped.

Ronan Mullen is a vile person that attack on that brave woman who shared her story... Disgusting

    She is arrogance personified.

Is she not a woman you'd trust then ?

Well I don't personally see the need to make a decision for her about whether she continues her own crisis pregnancy or not if she is unlucky enough to have one - I trust her to make the decision in her and her family's best interest.

Whether I would entrust 15 minutes time to her to have a coffee with her is a diffetent matter.

I have lost all respect for Pat Kenny. His duty is to be an unbiased facilitator of this debate but he is utterly ABUSING his platform to express his own personal pro choice agenda. PAT YOU ARE A DISGRACE!

Can I suggest he called certain folk out on their bullsh1t (scaremongering scenarios that are NOT in the proposed legislation

In fairness to PK, he knew the material

A lot of emotion and not much context.

Very true. "I cant get the words out" despite doing so as she knew her time was limited.

All this talk of Ronan being a failed Priest.

Erm how petty can you get?. We all fail at something in life, everyone.

The irony is the people saying Ronan was insensitive are the same folk insulting the balls of him!.

Everyone fails at something though. I mean Varadkar the Taoiseach is a failed Doctor.

How is your life going to be negatively affected if you don’t get to bomb an old folks home?
Oh they need a reason now? They want to. They'll be upset if they don't.
(kinda creepy the way you switched for hypothetical to talking about me there...)

I thought Pat controlled the melee as good as possible.

I thought Regina was stand out.
I thought Colm was more co.passuonate in the marriage equality.

I thought Maria was on the ropes. She forgot to do her smiling.
    Ronan. No comment.

I don't like Frank McNamara anymore. Or Teresa Lowe.
    Michael Harding was so compassionate

Regina Doherty did very well tonight and she really bit back at Maria steen... Long overdue!

    Declan Ganley?

    Why? He's against everything.

Would not have us in the Euro, or Lisbon treaty. Gay marraige and now abortion.

Why does he get to go on national TV and air his opinions?

Where's this guy when you need him?

He's dead-ended his own life about a year or two after that incident.

A lovely touch by Mullen to forgive Saoirse for her "sins". Class act.

    Twisted man.

No baby with down syndrome born in Iceland for 5 years. 90% of country would be happy with legislation for rape and incest. It will lead to a slippery slope imo. Eventually genetic testing will be available for every sort of anomaly. Cystic fibrosis. Cerebral palsy.
Heart disease. Ginger hair. Small. Tall.

It will just lead to eugenics. We saw what happened in nazi Germany with that.

Explain. I recall him responding to factual errors of Steens on 1 or 2 of her points and that's about it. She was deliberately rabbiting on, even Ronan couldn't get a word in edgeways.

It'll be difficult for Micheal Martin to go a whole hour without saying "but what about Jean McConville?"

It. Is. None. Of. Your. Business.

I don't care what you think is wrong.

The women carrying dying children could give two sh!ts what you think is wrong.
Somebody wants to bomb an old folk's home.
It. Is. None. Of. Your. Business.
That's exactly how little sense your argument makes.

The old folks home is next door and I volunteer time to play scrabble with the old dears. They usually win. Damn right it is my business.

Plus, they were born, and some of them lived through ww2. Amazing stories. As for the ones who went to England in the 50s, jesus they are amazing people.

Way more scintillating conversation than with a miscarrying foetus.

Or, in other words, abortion is not the same as or even equivalent to torching an old folks home or a school.

He fact checked the rubbish live on air. Pretty remarkable if you ask me. I thought he did the best of any of the debate moderators.

He has not being fact checking the FUNDAMENTAL fact that what we are being asked to vote on is the removal of all and any protections of the unborn, and passing over the responsibility of (and GOD KNOWS what that will be) LIFE ITSELF to a handful of elected officials, whatever their whim might be!! this is a serious issue! and pitting women against the unborn is the saddest thing. Every person alive today was once a bunch of cells, was once a foetus. It's fúcking beautiful. I believe in that beauty.I believe in defending life itself. And i'm absolutely voting no

Can't say I was impressed by the quality of the debate tonight. That said Mullen did not come out well out of that.

The look of disgust on Mary Lou's face when Declan was given a personal heart felt plea.

Agreed, he's toxic to any cause he gets behind. The debate that's on now is of higher calibre.

Pat Kenny really ran the show firmly tonight.
This set the tone for a more in depth and worthy debate.
Also,he really showed other presenters why he is still top dog when it comes to chairing a lively debate....

Im looking at you Claire Byrne!

And completely off topic... Michael Harding for President.

Console yourself with the knowledge that you have considered the issue on its own merits without being hung up about who might agree with you.

(The only sensible way to proceed when assessing anything, really.)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,783 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

It's a first option but you had a choice to have an abortion and you and your wife made a choice which was your right.

Regina Doherty was very calm and collected tonight which was refreshing.

I had the telly on mute there as I read through all the latest comments. That lad's voice is not what I was expecting!
