What are the options for BB in a house without a phoneline? Anyone other than Sky and Virgin? We are in D12.

Fixed Wireless services if they are available.
    You could try calling Ripplecom.

Sky use a phoneline too. Just no phone number. Everyone offers that.

I thought they were over the television cables?

I'm unsure what your question is. Do you want broadband but no phoneline? Or do you have broadband and no phone and want one? Or do you want broadband but have no actual phone line (wires) into your house?

    TripleEdit:
I think I got it now. Sorry its been a long day. Its the last one. You never had a phone, no wires into your house, but you want broadband now, right?

In this case you best bet is to order a line I guess. Since you're in Dublin that shouldn't be a problem. Is your house a detached on your own property/land? Or is it terraced or an apartment even? In any case chances are your neighbours already have phone lines and there are wires in the ground everywhere possibly even coming close or right next to or even into your house. You just never got connected. I would call say eircom and pe-rorder (get a quote for) a broadband/phone line. See what they come back with.

Because without a physical line (I assume you don't have cable tv (virgin) either) you gonna depend on mobile broadband which is still not a fantastic option in many cases. I'd price a classic line into your house, like I said start with eircom. Then you can compare with wireless (mobile) broadband options.

    No, that's only virgin.

Sky deliver TV via satellite anyway.

Sky will make this painful for you if the house has never been connected. They can connect you but their reps mostly don't know/want to know.

Go with Virgin. If you have a reason not to go with them then Vodafone/Digiweb.

Thabjs for the replies! We are with virgin as it is but just wanted to see if we have any other option.
House has no phone line, requires access through neighbours garden to put one in, which they have frustratingly refused.

If your neighbours can prevent you from getting a phone line then you're stuck with Virgin. Not great in terms of shopping around, but at least you get decent broadband. That cable broadband is the fastest broadband there is in Ireland.

Your only other option is mobile broadband. Depending on the coverage in your are that can be reasonably fast, too. (Although not in the same league as Virgin cable) But coverage shouldn't be a problem in Dublin. You could get yourself one of those mobile dongles and a router that supports that. There's integrated solutions as well. Not sure its going to be cheaper than Virgin though. And definitely not better. I'd say you're stuck with Virgin, but like I said it could be worse.

You already have the best consumer broadband connection in Ireland.

    Digiweb SIRO (over ESB lines)?

Digiweb don't seem to get a mention too often but I've found the rates good, and the customer service is generally excellent.

Not in Walkinstown that I know of.

Coverage is still small nationally, thus not talked about much.

    Thanks, will check them out.

We're happy enough but consider it expensive for what we use it for so wanted to see what else was available.
