I'm back home in NCD with proper internet and my 17" laptop and I still can't see it amongst the nettles.

Ya, it's a super walk alright, if you don't take any notice of the idiots standing right at the edge of an overhang that is just loose shale. €5 for a small slice of cake in the visitors centre is a complete ripoff too.

Visited it last year on a wet day. Knew views wouldn't be terrific but was looking forward to all the info at the Interpretation centre, geology, history, flora and fauna etc. Was very dissappointed, they do much better jobs abroad. The Bordeau Tapestry or the WW2 centre in Normandry were great centres... I'd no interest in the tapestry going in.

I never went into the Interpretation Centre. I worked for a company that would get overseas visitors regurly. If the machine they were coming to see wasn't finished, we'd take them to the Cliffs to kill a day. So been there a lot of times. First time doing that walk though.

Of all the cows to come in heat, the one who had the section is mad bulling today! Am sorry to be losing her actually, very fertile animal. She's only just turned 3 so would have been right on target for efficiency.

Did the Burren Way Cliffs Of Moher walk today from Liscannor to the Cliffs visiting center. About 13km. Legs are fairly sore now. Lovely walk on a fine day.

Did it myself last weekend, played a challenge game yesterday evening and have only been at 3 trainings all spring. Seized up today after it.

Great weather to be at it though! My girls have started camogie this year so I'm around the pitch a lot more than I would have been in the last few years. Getting sussed out on a regular basis if I would be intersted in going back to play a bit of Junior hurling. I'd say if I told my missus that I was going back playing I would definitely be handed my walking papers! :D

Ah the junior is nothing too serious anyway, there was a father and son combo playing against us yesterday :D We had a change of management this year and things are looking a lot better. Hadn't time to go training all spring, there was always something to be done on the farm. Everything seems easier to do in a game when your fit is the conclusion I came to after yesterday.

Ah the junior set up would be tame enough....I heard that training was frowned upon! :D
I remember playing Whitegate in a Junior B league final back in 1991 and my godfather, Naoise Jordan, came on against us in the second half. Not sure exactly what age he was then but in his fifties anyway. He still had some lovely touches and it was a real honour for me to say I played on the same field as him. Ollie Baker was on the same team as me that day - his hurling career took a slightly different path to mine soon after that!! :D

I suppose I should mention my few days away. Thanks for all the suggestions too. Only seen them today, especially those by AntrimGlens. Pity I missed the cuppa but thanks for the offer!

Friday was a miserable wet day so the drive wasn't that chilling. Mrs had to get the hair done too, and she'd the starting signs of a cold. Spent a couple of nights in Belfast. Nice town. Wanted to go for a jog down the Falls and Shankill roads after visiting on the red bus tour, but I only had a green or orange top for running so I was banjaxed either way! Did the Titantic exhibition, and it's good, but not great. There's serious potential there to have a savage exhibition. Seems to me they spent the budget on the building and forgot to do the rest of the exhibition right. A road closure on the way out meant that somehow I ended up in the Short Strand area :pac:

Did the coast road all the way up to the Causeway. That is a savage drive and it reminded me a lot of driving in New Zealand. Very scenic area of Ireland. The causeway was grand, but something about it doesn't amaze me. Didn't do the rope bridge cos pregnant snotty nose was in bad humour. Off to Portrush.

One night there. I liked it. Had a savage feed in a place called the Harbour Bistro (or something like that). Nice long beach there too to help clear sinuses. From here, we hit Bushmills distillery and did the tour. Very interesting and had a few whiskeys. Strolled around Bushmills town then to sober up, and had fancy lunch in the hotel. Left the credit card up at the distillery so between us we'd £30. No dessert that day and they looked savage. Once in a drivable condition, headed for a short time to Derry, then onto Ballyliffen in Donegal for a couple of nights in the wilderness.

So a grand few days away in nice sunny weather. Fry every morning, desserts with dinner every night and a few pints. What more could ya ask for? Well maybe not to have a snot factory next to ya the whole time but I'm married to her now so I'm stuck :P

Just putting it out there if anyone has a spare inch or 2" of heavy drizzly/soft rain would happily take it off your hands.

I'll send some over for Monday and Tuesday.
Would sir like some fireworks with that rain?

Was rolling a field that was damaged in the spring yesterday. Ground was perfect for rolling. Grazed last of first rotation today

Best of luck with the build. Are u breaking ground on or near the farm?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,282 ✭✭✭Dozer1

On the farm, currently living on an old house on the farm but its in the yard and for number of reasons not feasible to maintain/renovate.

it'll be our second build as we only bought this place in the last few years, looking forward to it already, last time was direct labour but 2 full time jobs 2 x small kids and farming I think it'll have to be a builder this time

Great weather for a wedding today.
Im usually gone at this time on a friday but the directors want me and my manager to review the pricing that another section of the company has completed on a job as their win ratio on bids is brutal compared to ours. Hard to tell someone in front of the board of directors they have made mistakes.

Interesting , where are they different to ye ? There's some fairly tight pricing out there now , some of them you would be aswell not getting

Have to be careful about what anyone posts on this.
But from reading online news reports hopefully the scum will be quickly found by their online trail left as well as public assistance given.
    Absolutely shocking stuff.

FYI - Biodiversity Ireland have a free butterfly identity poster with the Irish Examiner tomorrow Saturday. We see them every day during the summer when out and about doing our work but most of us don't know their names.

If you buy the Examiner and manage to identify some butterflies there is a week long recording challenge (starting Saturday) being run by Biodiversity Ireland.
