    Excellent fact check.

5 amendments to what the No side had said
1 amendment to what the Yes side had said
Confirmation that the 8th was a material factor in the death of Savita - even the dogs in the street knew that.

Continuation of this debate tomorrow night at 10.30 - not sure who will be on the panel.

The fact check is a great idea

Could you post what the amendments were for both, thanks

Tonight tv3 complete opposite of the Claire Byrne debate organised, let people speak for the most part.
No side did not come across well at all (5 corrections at fact check) pretty much zero substance in their arguments, basically the complete opposite of the yes side tonight.
Professor Louise kenny in particular was terrific.
    Fantastic stuff.

I was just thinking we'd have seen more of him!

He might have done more that I'm not aware of. But not often you see the head of either side debate here and that is not just limited to this topic.

By head of either side I mean his position in amnesty

Have to agree it was a good debate. RTE will get greater numbers though.
The mocking and jeering on cb show when savita was mentioned, could have been shown up for the nonsense it was if RTE had done a simple "fact check" at the end like tonight.
    Opportunity missed!

My husband got on the register! We thought he wouldn’t because he sent the form to Fingal instead of DCC by mistake. Yay!

Out of curiosity, how are your families voting?

    Mine:

    Me - yes
    Huz - yes
    Father - no
    Mother - yes
    Brother - no
    Sister - yes
    Bro-in-law - yes

I don’t know how my in-laws are voting.

This evening was my second evening canvassing for the NO side. It's amazing the difference the Claire Byrne show made. The public were much more engaged tonight and three thirty something women told me I changed their minds from Yes to No. Especially when I explained how Savita's loss was tragic but abortion on demand was a worse evil. The canvass is invigorating.

Lower audience share though. :( The RTÉ debate will have been more widely viewed sadly.

The one I can remember is, the the No side indicated that the no per 1,000 was fairly similar across Western Europe. Not so. Eg, Portugal around 7, UK at 20.
Also the proposed Irish and UK abortion law was not similar as the Irish Law will have the word, serious risk, and it will have to be signed by an Obstetrician and one other specialist in the particular field. That's for after 12 weeks.

Answers are to the best of my knowegde
    Mother- No
Father Sways No at the moment but could be swayed by another debate.
    Sister Not sure 50/50.
    Brother Probably Yes.
    Aunt Not Voting.
    Aunt depends on her mood.
    Uncle No
    Cousin female 30's No
    Other cousins unsure.
All these people apaert from one voted Yes in the marriage referendum!

These are going on what I was told by them and social media.
One thing I do find if your heavily involved in the campaign some of your close family might lie to you.

Well, I come from a forthright, politically-involved family. They’re all telling the truth, for sure.

Your family highlights my belief that just because SSM passed, doesn’t mean Repeal will win.

Coud it be possible that after watching the show and how some of the retain side treat people who disagree with them that they gave you the answer that they believed you wanted?

I'm not saying that you personally are like that but I know plenty of women who don't feel safe starting their position to retain canvassers.

Off topic a bit, when can we expect the result*of the polls, Saturday or Monday?

    *assuming there are no complications.

    yes amendment
Catherine Noonan had said that the Citizens Assembly hadn't previously voted for repeal before the actual final vote for repeal and they had.

    NO amendments
Numbers of gps on the repeal side were more than the No side said
Wording for english legislation is different to what is proposed here

Demensia has kicked in, can't remember the rest, sorry.

And that Savita's death was materially affected by the 8th.

All my family are voting yes, as is my boyfriend. My mother won’t even watch any debates, she says she remembers it all from the first time around and women should be left alone and that’s that. My boyfriend’s family are a different kettle of fish. His mother actually said that if the 8th is retained that everyone who voted yes should be tracked down and prevented from having children. She is an otherwise extremely rational woman and a retired nurse.
    Not enough facepalms.

Thanks, will hopefully be on their player when I get back and will watch it then.

I honestly can't call it. It really depends on who turns out.
Did you see the video on RTE of them asking people along the M8 route I knew some of these people and I know two who voted Yes and they said their voting No now.
Yes equality last time had over twenty in it in my area this time they are scraping ten and this includes the next town.

So much ‘WTF?’ about that. To prevent Yes voters from having children, wouldn’t one need to be pro-abortion?

All these people apaert from one voted Yes in the marriage referendum!

Essentially the marriage referendum was sold on the idea of happiness for gay people, there's no happy message in abortion whatever side your on.

I know right? I’m like if you want to prevent Yes voters from having children then all you have to do is tick Yes honey :pac:

They could be forcibly sterilised? Similar enough to what one poster for retain believes should happen to people who require social welfare once they have two children so that their taxes aren't wasted on their children's allowance.
Same poster is however happy to have their taxes spent on bringing back mother and baby homes because nothing bad would happen in them nowadays

Someone still having their partner alive and healthy might be seen as a happy message despite the grief they would feel for the loss of their baby.
Some would see some rape victims not being forced into further trauma as a good thing.

If they win, will they see women off at the airport or ferry terminal?
Will they attend the funerals of baby's born dead or perhaps the mother?
Will they take care of a child born with a life limiting condition and comfort the parents when said child dies?
Will they do prison visitation to see women convicted of importing and taking abortion pills?

That's the NO in the campaign in a nutshell.

Tell us, what happens in a termination?
What happens if a woman doesn't get life saving treatment because of the 8th?
What happens if she can't get cancer treatment that will extend her life because of the 8th?
What happens if she dies because of the 8th and she is a single mother?
What happens if diagnosis of a serious illness is delayed because Some save the 8th muppet in a hospital won't believe it when a woman says she is not pregnant and it affects the rest of her life?
