IRC Suicide

Koopa? have u ever dies from a drug overdose? me thinks no. ive been through the first stages of a drug overdose (before your stomach is pumped) and it was the most pain i have ever been in. i thought taking drugs would make death more 'comfotable' but theres nothing comfortable about it.

Patrick - ur a bit of an idiot to be honest. go learn more about suicide before you start casting them off as 'cowards'. i presume you dont want to die (neither do ppl who kill themselves!) so being forced into it wouldnt be fun, and actually doing it, i think, would take a hell of alot of courage.

the poor boy with the webcam or whatever was obviously desperate for attention. why do ppl always say that suicides are 'just attention seekers' what the hell is wrong with that? obviously they needed quite a lot of attention to end up in the state of mind they were in.

silent grape, it depends what drug i suppose.. to answer your question ive been almost dead in hospital before (it wasnt a suicide or "drugs" but i later did remember things like what would have probably been my last instincts, etc., and concluded dying wasnt any big deal, ive been in more pain when ive had a fever trying to sleep in bed compared to that.. although afterwards i did feel like **** for a while after as my body recovered (i think i spent most of the time sleeping) - thats something dead people dont have to do

as for the people saying "people who suicide are selfish", thats a pretty stupid thing to say.. its their life, they dont have to answer to you for ****

the chechnyan video - i saw it, its nothing special, theres much worse things that can happen to you than getting your throat cut

the thing i really hate is the way mainstream film 'deaths' are practically nothing like the real thing, they are basically creating a generation of people who are ignorant of this kind of thing completely, for example if a man falls out of a 20th floor window, he wont just lie on the pavement in a heap, itll be quite obvious he's dead, etc. (if they dont want to show the view, thats fine, but at least they dont have to show it wrong, its practically misinformation)

and no im not obsessed with death in any way, its just a reaction to the "protectionist" society i live in (im trying to make it less "protectionist")

I just read this thread after finding it on google and even though I heard about this kid at the time, it still ****ed me up.

But I read the logs and IRC log and I think you're demonising the other people in there too much. Mose of you seemd to be seeing them as a group of people all acting the same way, but you can't do that because they're not all the same entity they're dseparate people and each was reacting differently to him.

The guy that kept shouting RIPPER IS A GANGSTA, in particular, is a complete moron. He wasn't the only one either. But not all were that bad - in particular "grphish" and "hast" were concered to say the least.

But, yea, it's ****ed up. ****ed up cause I've been there done that - I don't mean I've ODd but I've seen all sorts of videos like that and read all sorts of screwed up stories, and they've had little affect on me - but this one has.

It has because the others were pretty obviously fake, or they were videos from 20+ years ago about some foreign people dying but this one wasn't.

This is real. It was a western kid, just a few years older than me, and reading the stuff on brandonvegas.com he wasn't entirely different to me or probably a lot of you, before he fell into drugs.

I don't know if the brandonvegas.com site is really by his brother and family, but even if it isn't it's still a fine tribute to the guy. Before I read it I was close to agreeing with the ones of you wqho said that people who commit suicide are selfish etc, but I know that Brandom wasn't like that.

It was a big fked up mess, what happened that night.

And if any of you were wondering, I didn't find this by googling for online suicides, drug taking, morbid videos or anything like that. Believe it or not this thread is the top result when searching for "whats that movie with loads of ninjas?" ... yes, I was very bored.

Look,put it in a real world perspective. If the girl was from russia or some other nation where the police are so underfunded that missing persons etc arent even looked for often and serial killing is common than it might be believeable. But shes American. Dont you think that somebody who knew this girl would have seen that film and contacted the cops? Dont you think the case would attract massive media attention? What a load of wallies:D

Those vids you see from afghanistan,chechnya,iraq,algeria etc are probably real. They are propoganda films for terror groups.

I think (and hope) David was making the unfortunately true point himself that people only really react to tragedy when it occurs to people who they can identify with.

What I was saying is that Westerners seems to have become desensitised to pain and suffering as long as it's happening to people half way across the world, or happened a long time ago.

There's a new generation about that have all grown up being taught about the holocaust at school, and reading about both World Wars, Vietnam, The Gulf... I'm a part of it and we've heard about it so much it doesn't seem to bother us because as a kid you deal with it by knowing that those sort of awful deaths only happen to other people. People that aren't like you.

Then something like this happens and it bursts your lovely little bubble, and for a small amount of time you realise that **** happens, and it isn't confined to third world countries or times long since passed.

I hate it and I wish I weren't a part of it.
