Need to reclaim VAT - Living outside EU

Hi guys,

Had a bracelet nicked on me and have not found a replacement in the US that looks anything like what I had but I do know that I can get it in the store where it was originally purchased as a present.

Since I live outside the EU I was also told I can buy this without paying VAT.

Can someone please explain how I go about doing this and if I need any paperwork to prove this.
