The yes debaters are doing a sterling job keeping their patience here.

Any chance of a few Yes minded audience contributions?

Woman on the Yes side telling lies about pills,
Sure there were all the women who brought abortion pills from Belfast and publicly took them in Connolly station, no one prosecuted.

That debate is a mess - no one given the chance to answer, people interrupting each other. They should cut off the mikes of people who can't shut up and listen.

Why are the audience cheering at almost everything everyone says? Come on Claire, get it under control.

have to say the no side well ahead on this debate

If you believe the lies it does appear that way. Thankfully most people do their own research and know that it's bull****. The yes debaters aren't great at responding to the lies and correcting them but everybody here is very much pointing out their mistakes/outright lies. By here I meant my house not the thread! We're those people who shout at the tv as if we can be heard

Any actual points on what's happening, rather than who's insufferable?

No side making some good points. Maria Steen posing some awkward questions to Mary Lou. Peter Boylan being a bit condescending. No doc coming across as a psychopath.

So far the No side are "winning". Very poor standard of debate though.

Brid Smith talking now...making some good points.

Might want to check the mod instruction further up the thread.

Nobody is telling lies Robert except for you. The threat of a 14 year jail sentence hangs over the head of any woman who takes abortion pills at home on their own.

One thing I can agree with you on. She's a terribly disrespectful politician to everyone she disagrees with, no matter what the topic.

No one prosecuted, but the risk of prosecution still exists

I imagine the Gardaí have bigger fish to fry than a bunch of women making a symbolic public statement

Get real January. Who was prosecuted for this, who was tested to see if pregnant and who went to jail?

    https://www.rte.ie/news/2014/1028/655394-abortion/
A group of around 30 activists have imported unauthorised abortion pills on a train from Belfast to Dublin.

Socialist TD Ruth Coppinger said they brought back the pills to highlight Ireland's continued ban on abortion and to call for a repeal of the eighth amendment of the Constitution.

The pills were ordered online and delivered to addresses in Northern Ireland, from where they were collected today.

Around ten of the women took the pills and said they were completely safe.

How many were arrested, and tested to see if pregnant. The woman on Claire Byrne Live lied.

I didn't buy Maria's faux compassion either to be honest.

But Brid could have managed that a bit better... Steen's smugness would get a rise out of me too at the same time..

That's an objective set for the No side. Clearly attempting to provoke a natural outraged reaction that will play into the stereotype of so-called "crazy feminists".

I never said anybody was Robert. I said the thread was there. Read it again and come back to me.
