Looking for recommendations for GPU please?

Hi Guys,

Looking for some recommendations from people in the know.

Recently I purchased an ultrawide 21:9, 34" monitor and I am looking for help with what sort of GPU I should buy to get it up and running. Im looking around and am lost when trying to find a GPU that could do the job properly., there is that many of them about.

My spec is as follows:
Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz
ASUSTeK Computer INC. Maximus IV GENE-Z Z68 (LGA1155)
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 668MHz
Antec TP-750, True Power 750 Watts

I intend on upgrading RAM to the near the max 32GB.

Budget around: €100-€200

Any help greatly appreciated

Really need a 1070ti as a minimum for 3440x1440 for 60fps gaming.

Just to say, I'm not into gaming much, be using the monitor for graphics, some video editing on coding etc .... not really gaming

I think the Motherboard will only support PCI-E 2.0 x 16

Ah should be grand a 970 at that budget. R9-290/390 also but they can be loud.

Just looking at that card, its PCIe 3.0 x 16

The motherboard only supports PCIe 2.0 x 16

Donr think its compatible

That's fine, PCIe 2.0 x 16 is the same bandwidth as PCIe 3.0 x 8 which is more than enough for a GTX970

If it's not for gaming a €80 GT1030 will be perfectly fine.

If it's not for gaming, have you tried connecting the monitor to the onboard graphics card?
I'm currently without a proper GPU, but my motherboard has an onboard GPU good enough for day to day stuff at 1440p.
Maybe give it a shot before you spend any money.

Yes, it will be fine.

I assume you need a new card because the onboard video won't support the full resolution properly?

I don't know what software you are using but some may take advantage of a better GPU like a GTX1050Ti or GTX1060 3GB....or not at all or very little, either. It wouldn't be my area of expertise.

Yep, HDMI in connection for the monitor. Need a card with hdmi.

I dont want anything fancy, just something thats not going to give me any grief!

As i said wont be gaming, just coding, graphics and video editing.

Il probably purchase a new pc soon so dont wanna spend too much.

I mostly use Linux, windows on very rare occassions

Many graphics / video editing applications can use GPUs for hardware acceleration / encoding tasks.
So a GTX 1050 or RX 560D might be the way to go.
