It is interesting though to think, we all have some ancestor (hopefully distant) that would have raped/murdered/ done unimaginable horrible things - that is why all this historical guilt that the SJW crowd love to harp on about is such f*cking bullsh1te ... where do you draw the line ??

You found out you where somehow related to one of histories most notorious villans, like adolf hitler or joseph stalin?

It would answer a few questions alright..
Only joking. Cash in on it obviously.

I used to live a couple of hundred metres from Joseph Stalin's family home. Drank with his descendants on occasion - decent people in my experience.

That being said, if my surname was 'Hitler', I'd probably consider a name change. Nobody wants to live next door to the Hitler's.

Read somewhere before that Hitler was a common enough name back in the day but there are no Hitler's left as they all did in fact change their name.

Researching the family tree can turn up some unwelcome surprises.. Not telling, but I was and am shocked and upset .

I would probably do some in depth research out of morbid curiosity.
I’m (thankfully) not my relatives though, so I doubt I’d feel any guilt or shame.

I drove through this place a few years ago and did a double take when I saw the sign!

To be honest finding a bad 'un while researching the family history would make things more interesting. I certainly wouldn't be ashamed or think it was a reflection on myself in any way. Most of my Liverpool ancestors were poor working class, sailors, dockers and labourers, of northern English, Scottish, Irish and Welsh origin, not a sniff of wealth, royalty or aristocracy and I'm quite proud of them for that! The best I can do is a remote connnection by marriage to Edwina Currie, and a distant connection to one of Cromwell's generals...not sure which is worse to be honest! :D

Interesting might not be the right word, believe me.

Hilter was well known for mining Hilter Goldochre as well as its big margarine factory which owned one of the largest whaling fleets in the early 20th century.

    Hmmmm 'Hitler' margarine ;)
