Tiredness. It's been a long stressful winter trying to get the normal stuff sorted while running around trying to build a shed with animals outwintered waiting for the shed.

Clear tb test today and lease finally ready on outfarm. Left the boy out there ploughing for barley tonight. Hardly thought that would be a job for May but we must play the hand we are dealt!

Wholecrop maybe? Earlier harvest and more time to get land in grass again?

He'll probably send the young lad out with a shotgun and earbuds until the sower leaves next.

Starting Tues 8th. Let Bulls out to heifers today, first time in years we haven't Ai'd them. We usually truck them home for 12 days and synch them but we couldn't face any more bedding and foddering, sick to the whole of the yard.

Upgraded drafter to full EID job, a few more cows to map on to the system and we're yoked. We've been trying it out the last few milkings and all seems good. One more job made a small but easier.

Going well. All heifers bred and cows numbers are getting smaller everyday.
Tech says conception rates seem to be good on farms that have bred early

I think he means non return rates. He could have no idea of conception yet

They could and many do but the tech can't make claims on conception rates this early. Some cows repeat at 28 + days

Had notions of snyching the heifers here to but as time is coming near i going ti let the herefords at them as i just couldnt face into aiing them now+they are now ending up in the wrong fields for the crush.absolytly hammered after this spring as the amount of trouble and work that was done was huge.

Ya. Where i was working there was a big more friesian type and a smaller jersey type. They were up the crush one day and the smaller lad was behind the big lad and the big lad came out with two back legs swelled to the last. Non stop pucking.

In fairness they are a bit mental, but only keep for one season. Its the second year i find they get very cross. Kept a couple for a second season and they were unmanageable, only option was to hang them up, lesson learnt.
The reason I use them is calving ease, I find it gives heifers a great start. I also use to be able to pick them up at handy money but not this year.
