Using her infravision and her swimming skills Lalwende decides to push onward. "Might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb." she murmurs to herself.

Taking a deep breath and ducking under water, allowing her heavy scale to drag her down, Lalwende makes her way forward. It looks like the corridor turns west a little further on below the surface. There is also something that looks like a bowling ball with teeth an a tail moving agitatedly around at that corner. It prepares to charge.

Ooc: Bear in mind you are fighting in water, which will make slashing and blunt attacks awkward.
    Roll time!

Webby grins as he approaches the intersection between the south and west walls, "a spiderweb!" He thinks to himself having spotted a small home for what must be or once was a home of our eight-legged friends.

Realising he is not alone in the room, he looks back at his COMRADE to make sure his eyes are locked elsewhere.

As soon as the coast is clear Webby grabs the webs and quickly stuffs them into his garments, safe and hidden from from the others.

As he looks around again, checking to see if the coast is clear, he spots an open door on the south wall.

Webby approaches the door to check what is beyond it.

Ooc sorry I don't have the link to the rolz room - I'm on a different computer. Would you have it please. What do I roll? I'm sure if I'm bitten I'll receive some magical powers...

Webby can see a passage running South. Off the same passage just inside the archway is one that runs West. The passageway is lit by small torches dotting the east wall.

In the south west corner of the mask room, a subsistence fly catcher tries to explain to his wife that it's not his fault the economy has collapsed unexpectedly. She dismisses his excuses, mercilessly mates with him and consumes his body before building a new web.

As Lalwende attempts to swim forward the creature darts toward her, it's spherical head splitting open to reveal rows of needle-like teeth. Unable to move with any grace she's helpless as it locks those jaws on her face. Mercifully the larva lacks the strength to tear that face off but it leaves significant punctures along her right cheek before releasing and retreating for another charge.

Lalwende struggles backwards out of the water, managing to get back to the waist deep shallows and freeing up her arms so when the attack comes she can fend it off without further injury.

Ooc : -4 hp. And your left side is now your good side

Lalwende staggers to the safety of dry ground. Wiping the blood from her cheek, she pulls a vanity mirror out of her backpack and examines her face. She sees the puncture wounds that the creature left and realises that she is scarred for life. In the midst of her despair, it occurs to her that maybe one of the others has wound healing abilities. Moaning in pain, she returns back up the passageway and approaches the scythe warily hoping to avoid further injury as she passes by.

Ooc : lalwende does not have a vanity mirror, but shock does strange things to the mind.

Lalwende tiptoes past the bloody puddle that marks the location of the Scythe. There are no jumpscare clicks or comedy bug crushings. However this could all still be part of the shock-induced delusion. Is she bleeding out at the bottom of a flooded corridor? What if it goes deeper than that? What if she's not bleeding at all, what if none of it was real and she's just numbers in a ledger or a child's dream?

She checks her pack. No vanity mirror. That's a good sign.... Isn't it?

Lalwemde feels dizzy and confused. Did what she thought actually happen or does she need just need to eat and drink something to restore her faculties? She ponders for a while. Remembering her flask of silver liquid she drinks deeply hoping that it will give her strength as before.

Aesc abandons the mask room and returns to the corridor, back to where the portal led them in and continues alone the east passage where the rest of the party originally went.

Ooc : lalwende rolled a 6, well under her Con of 12. That's a pass

It does not taste any better the 2nd time. Lalwende feels her gorge rising almost as soon as the liquid hits her tongue but she forces a swallow. A tight knot forms in her guts and clenches, doubling her over, blurring her vision.... But it passes. As her head clears she feels almost bolstered but the vile draught.

-2 on Con rolls till your next sleep. That's a good thing

Aesc begins walking back towards Sandors tomb, as if through a lake of toffee, almost as if there are about 4 or 5 people in that room who need to perform around 10-15 minutes worth of actions to catch up on his timeline.

    Sandors Tomb
When we left, Echtrae was threatening Sandor with a torch, Stufur was threatening Echtrae, Brutha and 9 Lives are outside the room. Fector and Stu are lost in some tenebrous netherworld, victims of my nostalgia for 8-Mile and their weakness for Wolf hunting. All are waiting for Echtrae to make his move.

If it's an attack, we'll need to roll.

Webby grabs one of his arrows and scratches "Webby wuz here!" on the doorpost, to signal his party if they ever decide to move around.

Webby proceeds through the doorway and carefully makes has way thriugh the lit corridor, inspecting the walls and floor as he does.

Before continuing down the corridor, Webby again grabs his arrow head and at the start of the corridor he scratches into the wall "Got Webbed?!" Leaving breadcrumba for the rest of his team.

OOC : You are in a reasonably lit corridor that runs for about 60 feet before possibly turning west. There's also a branch about 20 feet from the start of the corridor (it also goes west) that looks less well lit from where you're standing. Where did you scratch "Got Webbed?" ?

Lalwende makes her way to the crypt. She replenishes her flask of silver liquid and examines the remaining masks to see if she can remove them from the wall. She also examines the fountain very carefully.

Echtrae, was right. Stufur had been turned, was Webby too? Had Stufur the power of his master?
Whatever my protection v evil will protect from that monster

"Nice try vile beast" he roars at Sandor "but in you get". Ech tries to cower Sandor again shoving the flame towards his face.

    Ooc: what am I rolling?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 468 ✭✭Nebelwerfer

OOC: At the start of the west passage way, with the torches on the east wall.

So i dont take the south corridor all along, but turn west to get lit.

OOC : If shoving the flame towards his face is intended to connect, roll a D20 for init.
    https://rolz.org/dr?room=The%20Meatgrinder%20Boards.ieD%26D
    #d20 #Echtrae Init

I'll need a d20 from Stufur, 9 Lives and Brutha as well.

If it's intended as a threat only, indicate here.

OOC : To be clear, as a general rule a passage running east-west has no east wall. The torches are down the east wall of the southern passage. But I can see where the confusion arose. West passage dark. South passage brighter.

Sandor hisses at the flames, then his eyes glow red and he bellows "DROP!"

OOC : roll a d20! This is a "Save vs. Spells" - your target is 14 or higher

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 673 ✭✭✭The Dungeon Master

OOC : Guffy rolled 11, with a target of 14. As this is a 'Save' roll, the goal is to exceed or equal the target. Saves, to-hit, init, attack are high-rolls, Ability tests are low rolls. Worth noting that your wisdom modifier applies in most cases where you're saving vs a magical effect. In this case Echtrae's wisdom modifier is 0 so it's moot. Also worth noting that while this was a failure, a large number of the party wouldn't even have been given the chance to roll! No, I'm not going to explain why, I'm being mysterious... ;)

Echtrae immediately complies, dropping the torch and then falling to the floor on top of it. The torch is smothered but not before inflicting a minor burn in the few seconds it takes for Echtrae to regain control and roll away.

    OOC : -2 HP, Echtrae
I'll give Stufur, Brutha and 9 Lives an opportunity to react before Sandor moves again. Those of you moving towards or past this room (i.e. Aesc and Lalwende) are still toffee-walking till this resolves.

9 lives shouts in the room, "can we all just calm down here for a minute. We have no direct qualm with you king whatever, if youll leave us be we'll leave you alone"

OOC: Ah sorry i didnt know that specific "rule", labyrinth is a craycray game...

Webby leaves the message at the start of the bright south passage.

Brutha shouts his agreement with 9Lives, but also takes out his Holy Water, just in case.

OOC: Sorry, RL has been manic. If I need to do an Init Roll (i.e. if Combat is definitely starting and we can't talk our way out of it) I'll go do that now, just in case...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

Stufur eyes the holy water aggressively.

    "What is that for Cleric?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 673 ✭✭✭The Dungeon Master

"No! Be calm my protegé! He is a man of god, he merely prepares to battle a monster"
Sandor gestures sadly at himself. Confirming Echtrae is busy rolling to subdue the flames on his garments, Sandor moves to pick up his sword.
"Then again, if you're down here, there must be something of the monster about each of you, too, no?"
He presents the sword to Stufur.
"Take this. I beg of thee, take it! Open my wrists and drain me dry, my cherished and most accursed progeny, then place me in the coffin. With this sword through my heart I can slumber once more, free from this dark and terrible curse! Let oblivion's black replace my red, red dreams! Relieve me of this eldritch gift, this cankered embrace, if only till the next avaricious fool disturbs my troubled somnolence! By blade's kiss and blood's letting once more may I find sweet rest. Oh for just one sweet glimpse of my forgotten sun. Lo! But ne'er shall ..."

OOC : Seriously, do it before he talks you to death.

9lives shouts in "I think that would seem to be a good idea, he wants to sleep, let him sleep. Is there any way to make it more permanent for you? We could help you out on that if you'd like!"
