Sky Fibre in Ireland & Third Party Modems

Yes yes, I know Sky don't want you to use a third party modem, but I have found the Sky hub to be dreadful in terms of wifi (speed and range), wired Ethernet speed, considerable lack of configurable features such as port forwarding etc.

It was very straight forward to get the DHCP Client Identifier (61) & Vendor Class Identifier (60), but I cannot authenticate with an eircom f1000 (zyxel).

    I am guessing this is one of 3 things;
Incorrect VLAN (UK seems to be 100, not convinced that this is the case here)
    Incorrect Priority
Not spoofing the MAC address of my Sky Hub

I'm investigating further, but if anyone has been able to resolve this type of challenge

Have you looked at this forum
    http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-broadband-fibre-help/

I would suggesting posting there for help if you are still stuck.

I'm also trying to replace my SR102 (skyfibre VDSL).
Have tried already with Billion Bipac 8800 - got synchronised but no IP from ISP.
Today I'm trying with tp-link archer vr900v2 with pre-configured settings for SKY UK vdsl (mer) - also got synchronised but no IP from ISP.
No luck even with mac cloning from sr102. There must be some different settings in Ireland.

What settings are you using? Have you dumped your unique credentials?

UK and Irish infra are similar but not the same.

I tried only with random login settings, ie: asdfgh(at)skydsl|123456qwert. I fallowed other forums based in UK. They can use randomly generated credentials, even MAC cloning is not necessary. I was hoping same rules will apply to IE.

    *Sad trombone*

MAC is not relevant here, your correct PPPoE creds are the only auth. You need to packet capture them in order to reuse them.

Today I extracted my ID using wireshark. It looks like this (changed some letters):c03e0f4345d0(at)skydsl|ewer4705
Still no connection. Have anyone in Ireland successfully connected to SKY(MER) using 3-rd party modem?

It has been done before. Search is crap on boards but if you spend the time you'll find it.

One important thing is, that all VDSL in Ireland is Vlan 10. That applies to all operators.
