Night in the pub v night in

The other day my OH and I decided to have a night in. We had six cans each (twelve in total).

The six pack of Stella Artois cost €9 each. So €18 in total. We bought a pizza which cost us €2 and some potato croquets, €1.

€21 in total for six beers and snacks in comfort.

If We has gone to the pub, the pints would be €5 or so, the food could be €10-€20. Overall in the pub it would have cost €80 in the pub compared to €22 at home.

The pub can **** off. From now on I’ll drink at home in comfort and bring friends around.

If minimum pricing comes in, then I’ll ramp up my homebrewing.

Can I ask how old you are?. As want to know How many years it to took you to discover cans from off licence is cheaper than pints in the pub.

Going to a pub is a different experience. Not saying it's necessarily a better one, just that it's different. Same way that going eating in a restaurant is a different experience to getting takeaway.

If you're exclusively wanting to drink as cheaply as possibly and just chat with your friends/partner then staying home is your best best. If you'd rather draught beers and some atmosphere then pub is a better option. Thankfully people can do either as they prefer.

Maybe should try larging it up in Wetherspoons monday club, 4 pints for 10 quid, shorts and mixer 3 quid or a double for a fiver. Pizzas and chicken wings 5 quid aswell, get the cheap booze and atmosphere for less than half the price of normal boozers. Only problem is degenerates of society around, loud and lurid conversation might send u back home.

I went out on Saturday night, first time in months and had 3 pints and a pack of bacon fries, came to a bout €16 in total and sat in a nice oul fella bar and enjoyed a good catch up. Walked home, had a toasted sandwich and went to bed.

You don't need to have a feed of pints to have a good night out and you don't have a horrible hangover the next morning.

I sit at home watching tv most nights of the week so why would I want to do it on the nights I go out? Pub is much better than sitting in, yes you pay more but you get a lot more out of it too.

Ok there can be some good nights in with a few friends around watching a match etc but overall pub wins out the majority of the time.

Sounds like an average night for me. Minus the stella, and croquettes. And the missus

Which is why I go out on fridays.

There's only two nights of the week where it is fine to stay up late and therefore watching a few episodes of something or a movie can be done on these nights. Throw in some nice food, my girlfriend, a few drinks, the option to pause when going to smoke a joint or even just use the bathroom and a cosy couch and this, to me, is better than going out to a bar late at night.

All depends on your mood.

Sometimes sitting around the kitchen table talking ****e is fun. Sometimes sitting in the corner of the pub with freshly-pulled pints is good craic.

When you have kids, the pub takes on a whole new dimension. Sometimes just getting out of the house and talking to other adults without interruption is all you're looking for.

Pretty standard for people my age anyway(college age..)..OP sounds young

Personally I think being out in town in pubs and bars is usually more fun than being at home. But staying in some nights is nice too the odd time, and of course saves a lot of money. A good compromise is cans in the park or by the canal.

Have barely been out in pubs at all in years. And when I am in one it is usually because there is a gig I want to see.

I throw a monthly house party now and friends come over. The one from this month on the 14th managed to go on until pretty much the Monday morning. Great fun.

I buy all the food and beer in for it but there is a box everyone can throw money in towards it if they feel like it. I have always at least broken even. Sometimes have profit to throw at the following month. So it is like a free night for me and the girls paid for by the mates who come over.
