Amazon's Recommended for you - have you ever bought as a result?

    I was just looking at my Amazon home page and its likely famous "Recommended for you" list and wondered if anyone had ever bought anything directly from Amazon's recommendations or from their link selling?

    My Recommended for you page is mostly of stuff I'd never think of buying but is there because I have looked up products for other people often in response to boards.ie threads. I've only ever bought stuff I specifically went online to buy and not from any form of recommendation.

    But people must be influenced by Amazon recommendations or why would they bother?

    Never ever found anything interested in their "recommended" list, to be honest. I wonder how would they pick them, as they're always totally irrelevant vs. things I'm looking at over there.
